  1. This is what I am doing, Just need a short bit of keyed shaft, there is two of those flange mount pillow blocks mounted back to back.
  2. It hard to get anything I need in nz, I got a 11t and 17t sprockets to make the jackshaft, they are 420# I need to fit keyed bosses to them as they are front sprokets for a motorcycle, I could only find 3/8 tapperlock bosses, started to machine them down but found they are some kind of cast iron, I am unsure if I can weld them to the sprocket now, if its malleable iron I could.
  3. I would like to replace that brittle heap of shit but carnt find one
  4. I need a rocker cover gasket and sparkplug tube seals for a 2005 Nissan presage, that would seam like a simple thing to find but fuck me
  5. I was going to gear mine to do around 28MPH, I just came up with a plan to make a jackshaft on an outrigger off the PTO side on the engine New clutch came today but I have sent it back as the bearing was rough as shit.
  6. What ratio do you have on your scooter? and what do the wheels measure from the ground to the top of the tire?
  7. I could go up a few more teeth on the rear sprocket and call it finished?
  8. My current set up with no jack shaft it says it will do 40 MPH, do you think my clutch would work with that?
  9. I just found a sprocket calculator, I reckon if I gear it for 30 MPH should be enough. Engine RPM 3600 Engine clutch sprocket, 14t Jackshaft input sprocket 14t Jackshaft output sprocket 10t Rear sprocket on wheel 37t Tire height 10" 3.7:1 Dose that sound about right? or should I try to just find a bigger rear sproket?
  10. I ended up buying a 1" heavy duty clutch but I could only get it in a 14 tooth sprocket, I am going to make a jackshaft set up. I will have 14 teeth on the front and 37 on the rear I am running a 420 chain and sprockets, wheels are about 10" tall, how do I work out what size the sprokets need to be on the jackshaft?
  11. No noway fuck off All the bits needed to finish this are right under our noses but because of stupid old men who would rather scrap them or keep them in the shed or in the grass till they die makes it much harder
  12. I just picked up today a Tecumseh 8 HP engine, I was bidding on it wile I was in Japan, its in mint condition, it came off an industrial vacuum, its like new, it will bolt right on to my mounting plate but I need to space the rear sprocket over a bit as the engine is a bit wider and I will need to cut and reweld my rear mudguard mount, I may not need to do anything if I use a gokart veroator drive thing. https://www.trademe.co.nz/business-farming-industry/industrial/engines-motors/other/auction-1651226130.htm?rsqid=3176e9748e7142e393eefc3180413f0b What do you think, should I get one or just use the clutch?
  13. They usually do a cople layers of 10mm at 45 degrees, get more from each sheet that way to.
  14. I ended up turning the gas cylinder I was going to use as a filter into a furnace, but I found some other plans for a filter that fits on after the cyclone that uses a fibreglass blanket that could be cleaned and reused, still need to find a vichical to fit this to, the last one I got I decided it was too good to chop up, something old and big, I was reading an old book and they were running a sawmill that used a Dodge flathead 6 with no filters at all and a very crude downdraft genarator, every now then the head had to be removed and the valves and Pistons in place wirebrushed to remove the crap.
  15. Been planning some things for this, I am going to replace the big alloy pulley for the belt clutch as it not consentric anymore and I want to replace the sprockets, I am hoping they are just unerversual indrustial parts like everything elce, I am going to fit a pulley onto the end of the gearbox input sprocket to drive my DC arc welder witch can mount under the seat suport and where the rear PTO use to be I will make a box to mount the controls and power suply, I think this would be very handy, I just hope I can get enouth RPM from that shafts
  16. I filled every possable orifice with old paint on my vhaxall when it went to the scrap, most wreckers now soak the old fluids into the seats befor they go off to be incinerated
  17. I did a simmler thing with my motorcycle boots, I made steel plates for the outter toes and glued them on with liquid nails, I found my self delerbritley holding them on the road at night to make sparks.
  18. I am keen to know about your clutch conversation, my flathead has a mk4 box behind it, it used the zepher fricton plate and flathead truck pressure plate, I would love to use a modernen diafram Spring pressure plate and disk that was good cheep and redealy available
  19. It cost $120 to have my drive shaft made with me supplying the parts, it only had 2 joints.
  20. Dose that engine spin clockwise and what dia is the PTO shaft? I made my frame tall enough to fit most engines in there, the big Kohler fits in the rails.
  21. Haha nice, I did LOL when I saw that.
  22. Thats nice to know, its super strong now, I spent hours making that rear wheel. what engine are you using?
  23. Engine seems to run pretty well, Had a bit of trobble with the pullstart clutch but it just needed cleaning and some oil, I made an exhaust that I burnt the side of my hand on badly, I also made the missing sheet metal part that directs the air around the front fins, still need to find another fuel cap as the one I have has a few rust holes in it,
  24. Frame is half painted, got started on the shitty 5 HP engine, I got it sparking, it had no points gap and they were dirty, carb had bad corrosion from condensation in the tank and one of the jet tubes is lose, I have another carb but its for the small fuel tank as some Briggs & stratton engines the carb bolts to the top of the fuel tank
