So its been awhile but I went up to dads yesterday and took her for a drive. Hadn't been started since last time I was there (ages ago) but she ran well once we found a battery that had enough juice. Dad tried to take her for a VIN but the fuel pump shat itself on the way in, now she has a new fuel pump and handbrake cable. Dad said he will take her into town for a VIN and drive her to work to get some k's under her belt. Hopefully she doesnt break down on the way like last time and passes and is all legal for Hawke's Boes.11 points

Rain???? This thing will melt the rears in 4th at 120kph+ ( private road) at anything more than 2/3 throttle in the dry. Full throttle ( if you dare) will see the tcl flashing at 160 in 4th. Wife only drove it once and had the tail out at an intersection. This is all with the traction control on. Do um yeah i have unstuck myself a couple of times coming out of 70 zones into 100kph area in the wet where unintended tyre destruction took place. I don't think there's many fg utes in the country running 19-20 psi but for good reasons. Keep it under 2500 rpm and 1/3 Throttle and its safe as houses. I think I have it figured out now. You can get turbo g6e's cheap now just need to budget for an lsd as they have open rear diff from factory.3 points

drive in would be ace you can hire giant screens etc, but they cost $4500 which is a bit much for the 50 people that will turn up Theres a whole "Guerrilla Drive-in" thing called MobMov, where dudes just put a DVD player and a projector in their car with some FM transmitters and meet up at random places and play movies on the side of a building etc, which is pretty bad ass http://mobmov.org/manifesto/ might even be something that OS wants to invest in and send it around the country throughout the year to different cities and events for regular drive-ins? or maybe pass the hat around auckland members to raise a little money to buy one for 'regular' drive in events? I've looked into it before, and happy to nut out some pricing and what gear to use etc if people were keen?2 points

well thats the boxes done, new/really old steel mudguard added as well, for extra awesome, pics. from the back, the panniers/ammo boxes are just a touch wider than the heads, so thats good, i could probably get them the same width with a bit of a design change, but that'll do me ammo box/crash protection2 points

I remember the three of you spooning and making small talk until it got light. Then promptly falling asleep. I has earplugs galore this year. I also remember someone turning the gas on. And Shaz coming to bed at 5am saying, gee it smells like LPG in here. and me getting up sans contact lens to try find the source of the smell. But I can't remember much else..1 point

It's about time we had a meet in my neck of the woods, so come for a burger in friendly Porirua. Burger Fuel has recently opened a new store in Porirua so lets get together and sample the goods. Location https://www.google.co.nz/maps/place/BurgerFuel/@-41.134009,174.839884,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xd97b2e61926f0ef1 We will go in at around 7pm but feel free to turn up a bit earlier and drool over the collection of everyone's rusty POS cars. Sweet, that will definitely be useful as I have yet to power on and test my GM-D8. I'm also looking forward to pawing through the bulk lot of gear that's on its way... Currently eyeing this up on Yahoo:1 point

You'll be sorely missed Jesse. I'll have to get maggot'd as with Mike instead. See if he will finish a drink you if you open one and pass it to him. Auto pilot drinking ftw!1 point

so while i'm super happy with the 14/s and low profile tyres its created a few extra problems. the guys i bought the car off never planned for it to go low, let alone this low, so when they needed to notch the sump to clear the drag link on the steering they put a massive box on the front to gain oil capacity back. this is now touching the ground, on a flat surface. hmmmmm might need to do something about that so i'm pretty sure that its a hilux sump they modified, just trying to find info on whether the other 20/21/22R sumps will be better suited to this setup, then i can buy another sump and actually be able to get the car out of the driveway again. the exhaust is also a problem, i've got no idea where the extractors run from factory but after a good look underneath the only spot i can see for the exhaust to cross to the outside of the chassis is right behind the steering before the chassis kicks down. this will involve a bit of work because my extractors are still 2 bits of pipe at this point (4-2-1), and its not exactly the biggest gap to go through once things start moving around with the car running. so the previous system just went under the chassis which is way to low for the way its setup now. i've cut off the low hanging bits so i can drive it (once sump is sorted) but its pretty much tractor like so i'll need to get onto an exhaust system pretty quick. it needs to go through this cutout in the rear, which is what it did from factory. and out in the sun, its hard to get good pics in the driveway, need to hurry up and find a sump so i can drive the bitch somewhere!!! cheers Matt1 point

URL=http://s236.photobucket.com/user/fastfrogs/media/INSIDEVIEWFRONTSEATSDI.jpg.html][/url] Its actually a damm fine car in good nick, there are a few issues as always with a car 30 years old ,but looks like ive got agood one, I would like the front brakes to have more bite, or stopping power ,but im not too sure how to go about it , have checked the disc pads there is plenty of meat on them and the cast iron rotors are i n good condition , perhaps thats the way they where in 1983 ? things to done so far , spark plugs ,high tension leads, rear brakes replaced, and double coil drum tension spring, engine oil and filter, Rego and WOF, extra keys, things to do, get the two screws that hold the brake drums on, they are munted, had to use ezzeouts to get them off,Butchers get some SD1 Rover Mags Alloys ,some decent rubber,205/70/14, steering wheel off a sports model SD1 vitesse,1 point

Picked up the full set yesterday..... Suppose I better pull the hunter out of the shed, fix the knackered fuel pump & chuck them on. Maori lowering blocks are in order for the rear (bags of cement in a suitcase) until I get the proper ones. Project Discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=346061 point
