  2. Well, been a bit of a fuck around but I think I have everything ready for a recheck. Went to Mazda this morning and picked up my confirmation letter, the guy was awesome.. said if they give me any shit they can talk to him in person, top bloke.. Went to ltsa to get confirmation of the engine and they guy reckoned the should pass me based on the letter from Mazda, and the head inspector was being a douche as carjam get all their info from ltsa anyway.. Got all my bushes sorted, rears are from a 626 but they don't make the front trailing arm bushes any more so I had to buy some over size ones and machine them to size.. Which resulted in spider webs.. now sitting in a massive line waiting for a recheck.. doesn't do much for nerves..

  7. Rain???? This thing will melt the rears in 4th at 120kph+ ( private road) at anything more than 2/3 throttle in the dry. Full throttle ( if you dare) will see the tcl flashing at 160 in 4th. Wife only drove it once and had the tail out at an intersection. This is all with the traction control on. Do um yeah i have unstuck myself a couple of times coming out of 70 zones into 100kph area in the wet where unintended tyre destruction took place. I don't think there's many fg utes in the country running 19-20 psi but for good reasons. Keep it under 2500 rpm and 1/3 Throttle and its safe as houses. I think I have it figured out now. You can get turbo g6e's cheap now just need to budget for an lsd as they have open rear diff from factory.

Or whenever you feel like really. We sit around either at burgerfuel or back up top and continue the yarns.Remember its always a casual affair , a place to yarn to mates and make new ones.An oldschool car is not required at all, of course if youve got one on the road then bring it and show it off!! Doesnt need to be flash or special.SOME OF THESE ARE NEW, MOST OF THESE ARE COMMON SENSE. WE WILL PROVIDE A FEW GENTLE REMINDERS WITH THE NEW RULES BUT REPEAT OFFENDERS MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE. RULES AND THE BORING STUFF!! Basically these are in place so we have a fun and friendly meet and leave the carpark clean and tidy like we were never there. Take your rubbish away with you or put it in a bin, (Use the public bins downstairs not the private ones belonging to the business up top Smokers please don't dispose of your butts on the ground! Please limit the ALCOHOL consumption. Its a public place and the Police/security regularly stop in and we don't want want anyone getting in trouble, We also don't want people leaving empties around. You are welcome to invite a few mates, but please note you are 100% responsible for their behaviour If you belong to other clubs and feel they might be keen to come check out our meet then that's cool but please see EURON8 for permission before inviting them. NO Skids or Reckless/Dangerous driving Please leave a space near the fenced off area clear for the cleaners and don't block them in if they are there. Park in a proper carpark! If its full then just use a bit of common sense and try not to park to many people in. Newschool cars please park to one side and be prepared to move if we get short on space. If its raining and we have to park downstairs then new cars park upstairs or out of the way. The covered carpark is very small and needs to be OS only, If you have any suggestions or input for the meets then PM EURON8 Thanks!!

  22. Quick run down. Remove both top sway bolts off the lunks so the sway bar can be swung up out of the way. Loosen the two 17mm bolts that hold on the bump stop and caster rods. Loosen the large caster rob bush bolts at the front of the car. Remove shock. Undo the lower ball joint but leave it on a few threads. Break taper on the lower ball jpint by hitting it hard until it comes loose and tge nut is now holding the pressure. Now remove tge caster rod nuts you loosened earlier and then undo the two underneath that hold on tge bump stop. You can now remive the caster rod. Put jack under lower arm so you can unwind the rest of the lower ball joint. Then lower the arm slowly to let the spring tension free up. Remove spring. May need to use a large leaver to pop it out. Install is reverse up be aware its alot harder getting the non cut springs back in.

  25. It all essentially boils down to the fact that FCs rule. Get this going stat Mitch. Mitch knows the cage is shit. Doesn't intend it to hoon the car in anything official. Basically Mitch just wants to look the part, do some skids and do it all for less than the cost of a weekend for two in hamilton. This will be you in a few months. Good lad. Which, because its an FC will lead to:

  26. I now have the rhd windscreen wiper motor and arms from an rx2 to complete the conversion. I also picked up a new BNT clutch master $59 and a few more nolathane bushes for the front end. Now I have a full set of rx2 steelies that are going to get the sand blast treatment and a cheeky gunmetal powder coating. And because I need some serious help....I saw some cheap hotwires for sale so suffice to say I brought them. These are currently getting the wet and dry sanding treatment when I have a spare hour so should come up nice with a bit of time and effort. 13x7 4 x110 offset 0 You know I said I need help right....I saw a set of 14x7 in mazda 4 x 110 with lots of dish...they are now mine. I need a new set of 195/45/14 tyres but Toyo proxes are $170 ish. These are not to be mixed up with Chinese copies or cheap 13" ones. I've waited patiently for a set to come up of a long time. Still not 100% I will run them as I'm loving the hotwires.... Here is some inspiration Pulled the hubcaps out the other day...

  31. The one in Silvia park is really good, it's got a nice lounge area you can use before and after, and it's the fancy cinema that you use, so it's smaller (about 30 or 40 seats?) but got the plush as seats. The pricing is really good, like if you fill it it works out cheaper than an ordinary movie. We did a few with my last workplace, and a friend had his missus 30th birthday there, which was awesome, except that we watched Dirty Dancing.......

  32. update, for shits and giggles, after fitting a new subframe and seat, i decided to rub off all the paint and am letting it rust a bit before chucking a clear over it, you know because all the kids are doing it, so it must be cool, i thought about sticker bombing it, but came to the conclusion that im 35, not 17 excuse my niece and nephew. umm since that pic, not that you can see it, the exhaust has been changed to run lower and closer to the engine and frame so it doesnt burn my fucken leg, and allows the boxes to be mounted as close as possible to the frame the boxes are 20mm us army ammo boxes and come in at around 30 litres (29l) so are a fairly decent size without sticking out too far,

  36. finally managed to sort out the fucked wheel nuts, been distracted with doing a clutch on the gf's daily (AE92 corolla with a blacktop 20V), fuck i hate working on fwd's. also chipping away at a few things on the GT4 getting it ready to sell. anyway, managed to get a couple of the wheel nuts stuck on, tried hammering on smaller sockets which is when i fucked up my thumb. so i went with drilling down the centre of the studs with a pilot drill, then going up to a 12.5mm drill. well, the pilot drill went sweet, but the bigger drill crept off to the side. fuck. so i thought about it for a couple of days, then i made up a steel spacer which just fit inside the wheel nut holes, and drilled out the centre to 12.5 so it'd keep it in the middle. then just drilled really lightly until it pulled the drill bit back to centre, then eventually through the fucked wheel nuts, and hooray, the wheel is off!!! happiest i've ever been to have a pair of fucked nuts in my hand!!! more tomorrow cheers Matt

  43. 3 years no update. I last drove this one year ago, to Hanmer knowing it had a leaking gasket. I pulled the head off the next weekend, one thing lead to another and a year went by. So, my head gasket had been leaking for some time and made a mess of the head and one bore. The block had been bored to +.090 to 4.000 inch and fitted with 351c stock sized pistons. I should probably have had it honed but hindsight is a wonderful thing. My E49 cam was worn out, valve springs soft and lifters rooted. New motor time. Blah blah 10.25 to one compression, new cam, sump baffle, oil pump brace etc etc. Put it all back together, oil pump air locked, luckily it was being turned over on the key with the plugs out. I still had to pull the push rods out again out of worry about the cam. Sorted that out more trials and tribulations ensued, nothing that some line towing, pulling the gearbox out a couple of times, and buying a new ignition system couldn't solve. It all came together today for the first decent drive in a year, I was very pleased. 245 head fitted with larger 265 valves. Decked block to push the compression up. Now the pistons come proud of the block at T.D.C. ARP Head stud kit and rod bolts. With an oil pump brace. New custom length pushrods, all the metal off the head and block meant my stock pushrods were too long. Sump baffle. All together and nearly all sorted. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?showtopic=28091

  44. So Today We had these turn up: Pretty cool old Sanyo speakers. Scored them on trademe for $22. I'm planning to fit modern speakers inside for a nicer sound. Also I started picking at the dodgy looking repair on the passenger side. I wish I hadn't as it was like opening pandoras box! So what do I do? I keep picking. And bust out the grinder with flapper disk. Ooops. Mrs Slacker_Sam will not be happy! It looks like they have just bogged over all the dents. Must've been done a long time ago. But fark this has become more work than I thought.
