  1. Got up early this morning to a clear day. Been a while. We hooked the trailer up after having spent last night emptying it out and filling the Sentra up with all the tools. Drove a longer way out so avoiding the busy roads and kept it all cruisy like. On the Richmond bypass I had my foot flat to the floor and I wound it up to the giddy height of about 70kph. [/url] Got to the base of the main hill and thought 'here we go'. But so fuss at all- it cruised up the hill fine (in second gear..) Arrived happy as so sat in the sun having breakfast and coffee. The we started to clear the last of the gorse and stuff that was in way of getting the cabin up to the next terrace level where we want to set it up for now. We had to move about 20 waterlogged telephone poles. Cant wait to sort them out.. When I tried towing it up the van just couldnt get enough traction as the ground was crazy muddy and water logged from all the rain over past two weeks. The trailer then got stuck in some very soft, spllppery mud But we got it out. Then we put the roofing on and left for home.

  2. OK, that was an understatement 9 years since starting it and 7 or so years... ...without touching it. Last week I went into the garage and sat in it. I will dial back the spec a bit so I can get it on the road sometime in my lifetime. P.S. Mods, I am reclaiming my thread. P.P.S In order to follow the rules, discussion thread here: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/18538-kriss-escort/?hl=kris

  3. Long time, no update! Although the end is now in sight finally... I ended up replacing the drivers side sill completely. I was never happy with the patch job I did the first time, it bugged me that I could have done it better and not use any filler. So Camel came around to help and we decided to cut the whole thing off do it again. And that is enough of that. No more rust!!! The doors are back on and the whole body is complete again! So, moving onto the interior. Finally, putting it back together! Before : After : Sorry about the photos, not the best quality but it has new Dark blue carpet, new door trims, seats re upholstered and new retractable seat belts in the front. I fitted a white mooneyes steering wheel as its better keeping with the overall theme. Looks really good and I am happy its all back together again ready to drive! So, thats about it then for this one, the sedan is pretty much done. I am not putting the V8 into this anymore, its going into my XM ute now, hopefully make a start this weekend

  4. Ahhhh bugger. Weather looks good for Monday but the grunty ute we were going to borrow is now down the coast as as its tree surgeon owner clears up fallen trees. We might well just give it a crack with the Hiace. Might try it out tomorrow for a spin. Really Im just paranoid and the mighty Hiace should be OK (if I sit on 50kph..) The thing is heaps lighter than a car trailer with a car. Anyways- we have got heaps done. More evenings, inc tonight, spent with head torches. Bloody winter hours. Yesterday we went out to the land and man did it tip it down. Seriously the most rain I have seen out here in ages. The Motueka river was almost top of the stop banks. In between the heavier rain where we hibernated in the van, drank coffee or ate sandwiches, we sorted out and cut all the roofing iron to size. Heaps left- enough for a wood shed and the veranda. Sweet. We also cleared the second short entrance way making it wide enough to bring the cabin in. Will have to tie back some of the natives that we certainly dont want to chop. We got back late afternoon and cut more battening plus a large peice of Rimu for the main bed support. I then put in the last insulation for the bed area. We aim to clad the area around the bed first with a load of that thin pine we got from the garage door place. At least this way we will have a cosy bed while we work out what we want to clad the other walls with. Today we put most of the other battens on the outside. They pull into the interior frame work and it pulls the lot up really stiff making the walls feel so solid for what is really quite thin plywood. Then we cut a big hole out of the back and carefully made a frame work and solid fitting door. We want it to blend in and not be to obvious, keeping the lines neat. Its going to be a storage area behind the sofa, which will be sort of under the bed. We can put the gas bottle, garden tools or other bits and bobs out of the way. with out having to cart them inside. A big hole.. Kevin doing the inspection.. The outside of the all finished.. Tomorrows jobs include putting the lock in the main door, window frame work, get trailer light board working on hiace, sanding the pine cladding. I hope the rain stays away.

  8. Randomly parked in front of this last week, thought I better get a pic. That F100 needs to be lowered and some wheels and it would be sweet to roll as is!

  10. Ball joints, wheel bearings, and suspension bushes sorted. Both ball joints have been rebuilt by HBI Engineering. I've re bushed the inner and sway bar mount bushes, and fitted a new set of wheel bearings to both sides. Just some rust to fix. Here's some broken stuff.

  12. Hey all, Haven't really posted, last time I did I had a '74 D Super. But now I have an '88 Mini Mayfair. Had her for about 3 weeks now and she's been really good, bar the bit where fouled plugs and dirty air filter choked her up a bit. All sorted now and good to go again. She has 13" Mini Lites with GAZ shocks 1275 A+ engine Repainted about 2-3 years ago holding up well She's in pretty sweet shape really. 14. Been a while with a few things going on including losing my job for attending OS nats but progress on the car is happening. These are the latest update photos received from Kayne regarding the heater duct area and a couple old ones from the rear section. I have also been looking into intakes and have found some thing already set up with 6 throttles so will do some more research and see if it is a good route to go. 15. I saw an ad on TV for Manulife. Thought the ad was for land and container and Suzuki Carry package deals, but it was for insurance. Maybe you could get Manulife insurance on your things.

  17. Finished installing the lowering blocks. Finally sitting at a ride height that I'm happy with. Rear suspension is pretty soft so gets pretty slammed with people in the back. At some stage I'll get a new leaf added and springs reset, but happy with blocks for now.
