4. Disscuss //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/40413-lincoolns-westy-as-hq/ Well since I started a new job three weeks ago I have been busy being happy as hell. I bought an ex championship winning HQ with three engines and all sorts of parts for $2k. Almost rust free but has had a hard life as it was the HQ club car for a while too with guest drivers etc so body is not straight but who cares. seeing to that me new job is a sales rep for Lubrication Engineers which is very high performance Lubricants, I will be running them too in the engine, diff, gearbox and some of our grease in the wheel bearings. Current motor in the car is a petrol 202 with an AVGAS head and the baffled sump. This was done by previous owner as he didn't want to pay for AVGAS. I will not contest this season of the HQ series so it will stay in place while I do track days, hill climbs and generally enjoy the fuck out of it. However I will be putting the AVGAS motor back together with help form my mates and teh the team I pit crew for in the HQ series, Hazard Motorsport. I can do this know as we can know run AVGAS motors in the HQ series again. wheels and tyres will have to change, but that can wait till I know if that will change at the end of next season. So far I have attached the bonnet, got it started. Left to do is adjust clutch, attach gear linkage, attach the rear driveshaft and rip out all the old woring and replace it. Which will be easy as the previous owner had bought all that was needed for this. and because no body likes a photo less thread, I have some photos, more to come when i get a chance in some daylight. Cheers Biatches

6. OK! this lives in my shed now! Collected it from Bwarp's lockup on saturday morning. Brake system was still very mushy, bled most of a bottle of fluid through it but couldn't get it to come right. So I thought fuck it and drove it from Porirua to Newlands with very dodgy brakes, in the rain, with no wipers. HAH! Got home OK, and on sunday I had another go at the brakes. Chucked the second set of brake shoes into the passenger side drum, and bled the system again. It took a whole second bottle of fluid but finally two tiny bubbles came out, and brakes were back to normal. Had a look at the front suspension - I think the suspension crossmember will need to be replaced, since the mounting point for the lower arm is pretty bent out of shape. hoping for a super carry to show up at pick a part sometime soon!

7. I picked this up from Auckland yesterday and rode it home in that god awful weather. Its pretty much standard, it runs ok...ish and doesn't seem to have any problems mechanically, first thing i done was whip that exhaust off and spray it black. I plan to get it looking as much like a cafe racer as possible and get the frame powder coated a different colour. Plans so far Clip ons New grips Pod filters Small taillight/indicators Shortend/new seat and a different gauge cluster. An example:

10. Alright so there has been a step in the right direction......1geu OUT! 1jzgte IN! Uploaded with ImageShack.com Uploaded with ImageShack.com Uploaded with ImageShack.com This appeared to be the easy part as I realised I now have shitloads of stuff to sort out like- -Find and fit a power steering pump and hook it up (motor didnt have one) -Sort the oil return out as one of the outlets is all up the shit since I changed the sump, I have it off getting slightly modded as we speak so the hoses can be connected. -Fit intercooler and radiator etc -Sort out the fuel delivery ( have a walbro intank pump ) -Wiring....somewhere in the distance heaps more that i'll discover along the way. also was wondering what this braided line ran to from the top radiator hose? The other piece in the pic is the end of it...any ideas? Uploaded with ImageShack.com Uploaded with ImageShack.com Uploaded with ImageShack.com[/url might of sold our house so hoping to slip a new trd lsd onto the list of things this needs...haha thats all for now

12. So been a little busy but heres a update on the deluxe So ive finished filling my repairs on the front a pillar , sill and have striped the paint off the boot jam. Put another etch primer down ready for when im ready to do a full primer filler. i have pulled the engine out and found some rust on the front panel, valance, and under the battery tray. Some cowboy has done a shocker repair and cut the chassis rail midway and to top it off layed it with a ton of filler so i opened up the sill for repair.bit of surface rust in their too. So got front lower panel off and found a guy who makes some replacement panels for the mk2 in auckland.they arent exactly the same but are a good substitute and better than buying some parts from the uk for a shitload. so welded the lower panel on so all in all its coming together alright so will update in a week or so

14. Like Pete says, this thing is rather tiny, need to park next to Anglia/Valiant/Cortina/Hiace for scale.. A15 should make it fun, and alot more usable than the Original motor. Was impressed with just how solid it was - and shouldn't take too much work to remove previous owner bodges...

15. Hold on. Do exhausts come in other sizes than 3"?
1 point
16. Yes, and your headers should do all the scavenging if they're designed properly, making the pipe size after the collector irrelevant / normally a hinderance. I'm going to sound like Bradspencer here, but BTCC 2litre N/A cars had 3" exhausts for a reason.

23. Any excuse really... Having another one of these this coming Sunday (29th), its the day of day light savings(i think?). See you all around 1pm weather permitting. If anyone has a reliable BBQ that they want to bring that would be awesome! We have gas but left the BBQ out all winter so its pretty iffy (worked fine for the Spring BBQ). At Sorensin's place, PM me or him for address.
