  1. So wasnt gunna put this up until Id seen what the end result came out like but its way to cool not to share Had to make up some custom arms to mount the rear shocks so came up with the hair brained idea of casting them out of aluminium Still have no idea if this well work or not but youll never know if you dont try aye Made up a blank out of wood and bog, many hours of sanding later But the real reason im prematurely posting this up is my furnace , I fired it up before and it cranks Made from shit laying around the farm , old clothes dryer, corrogated iron lining and race metal for the insulation and a but of stainless tube for an air pipe Lit it using wood then added coal, was using mrs's hair to blow into and it worked real well for about 10mins till it blew up, oops! Then just chucked the air compressor hose up the end of it and that was sweet but could nowhere near keep up so now im stuck with having to come up with some sort fan/blower to run it Got a big fruit salad/baked bean can for a crucipble (spelt right?) and chucked some old cans and bits of scrap in it and worked sweet as Just gotta round up some casting sand/something suitable to make the mould and I can give it go

  7. Haha, that mesh is terribad. Reminds me of the era of everyone trying to fit an evo bumped to their corollas or whatever and filling in the gaps with mesh. (badly) All grilles are

  9. so i've pretty much redone the whole diff conversion, probably should have gone to a lighter ae86 diff or something. but this is indestructible behind the 4a. axles re-welded with new bearings, ready to go. finished welding everything to the case tonight. oh shit your diff is bent. top mounts have been dropped down around 20mm. 10 off the mount and 10 more with the bend. other than putting the top rear links on a better angle. has given it a decent amount more travel, before the diff eats the body. made some new bumpstop seats, so the diff stops mm's from the body when doing jumps etc.. before it was lucky if it had 15mm travel. has over double that now / will probably just lower it more. managed to trim a bit of fat along the way also drive shaft angles were pretty shit. have corrected them as much as possible. will add a spacer under the gearbox also. but can't get it where it needs to be. only options are. 1) cut and raise the tunnel. 2) raise ride height. option 2 can fuck off. and i cant be assed doing option one. more interesting update next, promise

  10. no Im onto killgrinder mk2 now since another friend took the guard off mine and lost half of it. but basically yeah you got it/Im a tool. was cutting the exhaust off under the car and got in a shitty position to cut the last bit and then it bit between the two parts of the pipe and kicked. a few stitches but was back on the job in less than an hour.

  11. So after winning such a prestigious award at nats I felt I had to back it up with some more action - so got stuck in today with a little help from some friends and made quite good progress made a start around 930am had to get the lid off things and then put it in a safe place then got stuck into getting the engine out of it then had a breif intermission with our good friends at taupo hospital ED with all greetings and meetings out of the way we had to say goodbye to our freinds there so things could be put in their place I'm currently sizing up a 2JB conversion - I hear they run GREAT on alcohol!

  13. today Spencer gave me a hand to get the plug leads through the pipe and that went pretty well. a bit of lube down the pipe and they slid through pretty easily. after that Nick the sparky came over and we cut the leads to length and he re-crimped the ends on. we then put some fuel in the carbs and it ran. sounds really good and seems to be going nicely. needs tuning obviously but its running. that is all.
