It simply lies to the ecu to stop it leaning out at high boost/revs. It's not perfect but cheaper than a whole new ECU system. They are mainly used when you wind up the factory boost but don't upgrade the ECU. Do you want the fuel cut defender out of my car? I'm going to install a Link in mine so won't need it. It's a simple plug and play! So is the one I pulled out haha. My plans are to get it to a semi road legal state then megasquirt it. It's cool that it's factory but in reality it's a pretty primitive ecu and they are notorious for flooding in stock form. And I want to play with a megasquirt

kiwi808
The factory ECU's are shit and the were sooooooooooooooooooooo bad at flooding (from new) they had to make serious changes for the S5. I approve of the mega squirt monster J-Port turbo idea.

chris r
Does anyone have a recommended contact at mazda or hookups? I'm a tight arse and hate paying retail. Off the top of my head I need a front diff mount which apparently is fairly common on these? I really should fix the exhaust on the honda and take it for a wof buy why spend $40 on a wof when you can spend $500 on getting this home... priorities

kyteler
32 rims are spendy now too, I believe. (Not Desmond spendy though) I'm too skint too, hence PIAA wheels.

chris r
There are a couple of reasonably priced gts-t wheels on the tard so I'll keep a eye out for them
kyteler
Those ones in your picture will be GTR wheels buuuuuuuuuuuuuddy (surely, if they're not they should be/you should get them instead). Different width and offset to GTS-t wheels.
DB8-TypeR
Gtst are 15x6.5 +50ish, GTR are 16x8 +35ish. Well worth paying the extra $$

chris r
Spacers will make up the difference I can't justify spending half the value of the car on wheels so I'll have the shit looking gtst wheels if they are 1/4 the price. Man a grand for a set of wheels is another car...
