Liam-B
Still has all the dust from chopped in the engine bay! The thing I liked about this truck is it doesn't have any emission controls like most american vehicles of this era.
cletus
handy hint- to fix your drive shaft angles problem- the 'flip' bracket- ie the one that is u shaped that goes between the spring and axle housing- make sure someone hasnt fitted them backwards, sometimes the bits that poke up under the original spring perch are different lengths. If they are the same, you can still fix it easily, cut some off the front side, and weld a bit on the back to tip the pinion down. also make sure it fits snug up against the bottom of the spring perch on both ends as that is what stops the axle housing from rotating
Hemi
Thanks man, I'll have a look and see what's up. Sounds way easier then trying to make another hanger bracket.
Liam-B
Sweet, getting through the list of things that need to be done pretty quick!
8ball
If this is just gonna be a cruiser (not a bruiser/hotty etc) Id suggest finding a good Th/700r trans and swapping out the th/350. You should get reasonable $$$ for the 350. The 700 trans is the 4speed found in many US cars and the vn-vp 5L v8's. Your fuel economy should improve considerably and be much nicer to cruise the highways with. What diff ratio is it now? 3.5, 3.7, 4.11 etc? Hemi
I'll add it to the list but for the amount of highway driving being done can't really justify a swap. Diff is 3.4 according to spec sheet.
8ball
It makes a difference around town too. 1st gear has a better ratio than a th350 too. So will get off the line better as well. Ive never been a big fan of the th350. Seen too many over the years with major pump issues. Seen 4 that have totally seized the pump locking the convertor snout up. Big big mess and can be dangerous. KKtrips
Saying it's dangerous is scare mongering dude. Millions of TH350 in circulation. You'd think if they were that prone to shitting their pants then they'd not be in tens of thousands of hot-rods.
8ball
Mate just saying what ive seen. Th350's are popular mainly due to their size (smaller than a th400) They're a good trans aslong as the pump is good. Myself i prefer not to use them. If i was to want to keep a 3speed. (Especially in something the size of a c10) id go peace of mind and swap out to a th400. The trans he has may run perfectly well for another 20yrs?? Im just wary of them after what ive seen 1st hand. AllTorque
Dear Hemi, I have been enjoying your build thread. I like how you set yourself goals by way of a task list. I can't help but notice an over site on said list. Please add DO A SKID. Kind regards, Roger.
