Here's another bicycle in the collection. I purchased it from Oldschool a while ago and have cut down the brake pads to remove the old hardened rubber, replaced the tyres and tubes with ones from a similar vintage and fitted the white seat from my Raleigh 20. I'll give it a final once-over before taking it to Hawkes Boes in a fortnight:

I came across another bicycle while helping an old man move some Morris Minor parts out of his shed. I enquired about the bike and he told me that it belonged to his late Wife.

She had purchased it brand new in 1969. I could see that there was quite some emotional attachment to the bike. So I was surprised when he told me that he wanted to sell it to me.

It was missing one pedal while the other was a taiwanese one and the tubes were poked. But it was an honest 'One Lady owner' bike and a deal was struck.

I cruised into my favourite bike store here in Auckland and picked out some pedals from his box of assorted goodies. I found a matching pair of BSA pedals so they went in my shopping basket, along with some NOS 1980s whitewall tyres. Lastly, I found a seat in the perfect colour scheme for the bike, which at $5 I simply had to buy.

So I pulled the bike apart, cleaned and greased everything and then fitted my new old parts:

Once complete, I took it for a short ride. Maybe a couple of kilometres. It rides quite nicely but the coaster brake hub is quite innefective.

It's okay for now but further investigation is required.

I'd like to replace the grips with a white or off white set, repair the original bell by finding a suitable lid and give the brightwork a decent polish.
