bathcollector
We used to do Otaria road one way back when I was in the Car Club here, finished by the old house. I ran my Yamaha YTZ250 racing trike up there a few years back too. A good little Road for a play.
BLIZZO
cool, yea the driveway where we were starting was the old house, we raced down the road 1km, around a cone and back up and finished back at the house. Awesome bit of road for spectators
BLIZZO
righto quick question for those in the know of suspension / steering geometry.  I have brought a quaife ae86 quick rack which needs to be machine 50mm shorter to be the same size as the starlet rack, 25mm each side. What i am wondering is i want to get slightly longer bottom arms to give a bit of negative camber and a slightly wider track. I was thinking rather than modify the arms i could re plate and move the hole forward on the mount on the cross member, in theory this will change the pivot point giving increased bump steer yes?  Lets say i moved the hole 8mm out (is this too much neg camber?) could i counter this pivot point change by only machining the rack by 17mm each side so that the rack is 8mm longer on each side than a standard rack. My way of thinking says this will change both pivot points so i dont get bumpsteer and at the same time not reduce by lock that would happen by lengthening he bottom arms and not the rack.  Am i right, am i wrong, help please
ajg193
Who did you get the gearsets off? I'd be keen to buy a set, depending on the price.
BLIZZO
Umm his name is Stu, he is on here, was the blue 4agte ep70 starlet, does anyone know his username? i know snoozin knows him, he did some wiring on his starlet for him i think. One of the gearsets was literally brand new, had done zero km by the looks of it.
ajg193
Any idea on what he would be asking for it?
BLIZZO
no idea, probably not that much tho, not exactly a huge demand for bare k50 gear sets
Rhyscar
So what are you doing this time around to make it faster? My Dunlops are toast after that pirongia round so I'm on old hard silverstones for the last round I'm pretty sure you'll be faster than me! 78lancer
I have a few different cams from my and rhys car of you want to measure some up if that's any help to you. All are rally suited from memory.
BLIZZO
That could be pretty ideal to be honest, I could get snow to profile them and see what sorta specs they are
kyteler
So the old fella has about 3-4 seconds on you? That seems pretty good given the experience difference? Well-done you. Keen to have a gander at this in the future some time.

Keen to have a gander at this in the future some time. Â yea about 4 seconds. Im pretty happy with that, this was only my 4th event and hes been rallying (mostly escorts) for 30 odd years. The footage from the event was pretty shitty, shaky and foggy cos of the wet, but i made a split screen comparison of both of our second runs. You can see he makes his speed with later breaking, carrying a bit more momentum around corners which allowed him to stay in 3rd, where i dropped to 2nd in a couple of them. Pretty much just bigger nutsacks really. But i rub my nuts on his daughter, so i win at the end of the day. Â
kyteler
Have you got RaceChrono or an equivalent? It would be interesting to see the difference between sections as well, because there's probably places you're faster than him (not many though, pewhuehue) and if you recorded every run with racechrono you could get some sweet datas to analyse. BLIZZO
nah no such white mans magic here. not very often we would both drive the same piece of road. I know a few places he was much faster, the downhill section to the finish was one of them, just after the finish there was a 4 right with a cliff off to the left, i lifted much earlier than him.
