The vaseline method is probably the best.

Because the Holden V8 has its oil pump mounted away from the sump (it has to suck oil uphil), it can't be primed like a Chevrolet V8 using a cordless drill.

Many people fill the pump with grease whcih keeps it lubricated during he first startup. But grease does not meix properly once full oil flow has resumed and often causes more problems than it solves by blocking smaller passages. Vaseline on the other hand will lubricate the pump almost as well but will mix with the oil seamlessly.

^ Not sure about that picture Neal. That lambshit brown doesn't look right in that picture at all, far too glossy and slightly off shade wise. Looking forward to seeing it done though. Good man. I look forward to taking a snooze on your back seat during a future national event.
