toy-mota
productive weekend, exhaust leaks fixed for a wof so now i can take it to the hamner meet. Also starting my 2jzgte to 2jzge rocker cover conversion, the mounts are completely different, i just cut the old ones off and had new ones lazer cut,and i just tig welded them on.This is the first project where ive got to use my tig and learn how to do it,was pretty fun once i started getting the hang of it.a 3mm steel plate jig was made to bolt everything down and keep it all flat chur
toy-mota
Had the last couple of days off work with the manflu and took advantage of the time finishing off the rocker covers.I welded on some an10 fittings for a breather catch can, added my lazer/waterjet cut pieces, these are joined on buy using 1.5mm brass rod tapped through a 1.5mm hole then used loctite retaining compound to hold the pieces together.Sent them off to get the mounts milled down as they pulled a little from welding. When i get them back ill bead blast the outside, paint them VHT wrinkle black then sand the paint of the high bits. discuss here ----> //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/36351-toy-mota-1971-toyota-ms65-crown/
toy-mota
so just bought some trumpets from SQ Engineering in oz,a specialist in 4age gear.he also turns up trumpets,he custom made a set of 6 for me 100mm long with a bellmouth size of 87mm,they have shaved edges to make them fit like these -> his trumpets work out cheaper than trademe, even with the extra machining and shipping.heres a link to his site----> http://s-86.com/velocity_stacks.php will post pics when they turn up

Popular Post toy-mota
Maybe one of the last updates before it all gets chucked into storage for year while im away in Canada.i painted the rocker covers with black VHT wrinkle paint and i got the effect i wanted on the top and partially on the sides, the rest just gave a flat finish,i followed the instructions doing 3 heavy coats in a cross pattern,so now im not to sure on how to fix this, maybe put the covers on there edge? nearly there getting the retro 70's look that im after, should look sick in the bay of the crown

Popular Post toy-mota
Finally have the old girl back home.Starting to get all the bits together to pull the engine and box out.Ive been working on it mainly at smoko at work, making little bits and welding up the intake manifold. Also have redone the rocker covers in a flat black powder coat finish as i wasnt happy with the out come of the VHT wrinkle paint.
toy-mota
productive weekend .stripped the new w58 gearbox to inspected the internals.the rear bottom bearing had colapsed,it was missing 4 ball bearings and the cage which has then managed to get into 5th gear as thats missing half a tooth, but im thinking it should still be fine to use? gears 1-4 are still solid. So new seals and bearings for the box and it should be a runner. Also removed the engine and box from the car, everything went smooth and now the fun begins making the 2jz fit. So i have a 4m and 2x w50 boxes for sale //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/49374-fs-4m-2x-w50-gearboxes-chch/#entry1559794 discuss here ... //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/36351-toy-mota-1971-toyota-ms65-crown/?hl=%2Btoy+%2Bmota
