Yowzer
Well that is quite the spectacular failure. Drop a valve?
KKtrips
That looks like that motor has been resting under a tree at Horopito for a decade or more.. Other than the hole in the piston it looks completely fucked with those big rusty trails down the bores of the rear cylinders - not to mention the top of the piston in the foreground looks haggard as fuck... WOW - PS check the Chelsea Kennedy thread for someone selling a 1256.. edit in the pertinent quote.. if you still don't have any joy, I've just picked up a parts wagon with a reconditioned 1256 I don't need (he said its recond, but I havnt started it, and it's been sitting for possibly 10+ years). Flick me an offer if you're interested, it is still in the car and will need to be pulled out
zep
Got pissed off when I saw it and didn't check the valves, not sure what happened but I'm sure I will soon. Yeah, it doesn't look mint in there eh, though it has had water sitting in it for the best part of a month now. I've seen the other thread and am in contact with the guy. Yowzer
I never seen an engine is such bad condition. that looks like it's been sitting in a swamp. I've owned / driven worse
durty
That's a decent failure
zep
Regarding the water, a lot of it came when I took off the head. Not sure about how that shit got so rusty though - looks like even if it was the head gasket, it wouldn't have been long till it was ruined anyway. snapper
how come you never considered the 1159? they breathed better than the 1256 in my experience; my old HC was an early one with the 1159. shame you're selling it!
