shaneo
The year is almost done Drags tomorrow but still have a small oil leak which should be fixed today. And the brake shudder as well. Dyno was intresting once again I picked a place that doesnt print out off there Dyno machine so no fancy graph to show every one . The down side is I cant see the tourpe range which I really wanted. Maybe in the new year I can just put it on one to get a read out. But the car runs great far better than before . He did coment how the 45's are all go from 2000rpm foot flat not like a normal engine where they would be spulttering untill around 4000rpm due to the size cam . We changed the leads as they where lose and affecting the spark put colder plugs in it and adjusted the timing and got 122hp at the fly wheel and 73kw at rear wheels at 6000rpm Gave the car a diet last night so all the comfort bits have been removed and it is around 50kg lighter and you can notice it took it for a drive last night cant wait for the battle of the Kents
shaneo
All I can say is that I'm stoked with the time. I run first time I had ever drag raced and would do it again big thanks to the Old school team for a great day So this was run number one and couldn't wait for run number 2 lined up against mark105 and his datsun should have been easy for my little car as I had run 2 seconds faster than his car on the first run. Heated the tyres up and moved to the gate and away I went as soon as I left the line I could tell it was running on 3 cylinders mark beat me and that was the last run for the day . Back in the pits we had a play around had spark and fuel but an added noise and just wasn't running right we suspect that it has a bent value so yet another part that needs to be replaced looks like its out of action for the next month

shaneo
The head is off and its not good . It needs 4 new exhaust values two collars and a stitch to help with the two new cracks that you can see. This is going to slow down the getting it ready for Lead foot . Fingers crossed I can get the head back mid next week

shaneo
So the head was back on today and looking like it was going to be running tomorrow much excite Until we started to set the tappet clearance and the last two didn't even move another time round still no movement so out with the engine now looks like the cam might have broken last two lobes off I don't think this will make Lead Foot now going to start getting the Van ready to take now

shaneo
Took it for a small shake down yesterday Oatua Hill climb . Engine been back in for 4 days but I was pretty happy with the way it run . This was not my fastest run for the day but shows it at least going And it was quite wet . First run was 60.5 sec fastest was 52.6 sec but there was still a lot more in the driving I would say Still a few small issues going . Leaking tail shaft . And I'm not sure that its running at its best . Carbs are spitting a little when they didn't used to . Just need to check that the timing is right . And it needs a new Alternator to handle the engine.
shaneo
So it was going but with a loud bang at track day while Jenn was doing laps it never made Nationals . The engine and whole front end came out this weekend. A very big thanks to Doug. The new engine is painted gear box attached . Just need to get a new ball joint and front disks machined this week goal is to have it running by end of week this week but that is very hope full ( on a very standard spec and ready for sale ) When the engine came out the headers are near on rubbish now "105 speed" not sure about them but they have so many cracks and breaks they are now beyond repair In my option they are for show cars only that never get driven Your thoughts guys??? And this is where I'm up to at current. Replacement front end half way there should be going in very soon

I have been working away over the week and have done a fair bit more start up is planned for Friday and Trad me on Sunday .So the front end, I was using was in need of a little care Nothing to hard just in need of a little attention and every thing came together pretty well and I got it back on the wheels Still loads to get done over the week lsd to come out 4.1 open should suit the 5 speed and remove the adjustable shocks. Brand new set ready to go in . Loads to do and still I will need a car for gumboot rally only 5 weeks to go
