So scored this at a bike swap / sell the week before art deco weekend, and was hoping something liek this would turn up as I really wanted a period bike for that weekend.

So what is it, Well Fuck, It says its a DCR, however I have failed to find any info, im guessing french or Italian, around 1930's givin the rod brakes etc

Only thing I hate is someone has fuced with the rims and replaced the 28's for 26's, and makes it very hard for me to find 28 inch rims, so if you have some, i will like to buy

thing is so plush tho, has rod brakes with Drums, 3 speed stermy, and a random bike lock thing at the back, which I found out works the day after I got it, and then discovered i couldnt undo it so had to cut it up a bit, so gutted but oh wells....

So some pics

Yep, it is definately from holland, due to the spelling of the work Fabrikaat, if it was german it would be spelt Fabrikat.

Fabrikaat - Meaning Fabricate/Manufacture

There are some sick pushbikes in Holland, due to it being their primary mode of transportation for over 100 years (and still).

Let me have a crack at translating...

Oprichter Van Servellen(?)

Oprichting 1905

Vestiging Rotterdam

Opheffing 1982

Maker - Van Servellen

Location - Rotterdam

Years of Manufacture - 1905 - 1982

The Center Riding-Wheel-Handles comany, guy who made it, Address (Rotterdam).

In the years before the second world war the address was this and then that. In the years after, it was moved to Rotterdam but also Den Haag. Then moved back to Rotterdam.

DCR made pretty good bikes under the brand names "The Coursing Cycle" en "Ornatus". They were also the suppliers of Police bikes to the police and the golden(royals??). They also imported (or exported??) bikes to/from italy under the brand Bianchi.

At the "Jensiusstraat" location they made the "Faillissement"??? type. It is the only rotterdam company that made "machtsvertoon"? for the police.

The frames were bought by something, after 2nd world war, for Trains people, and later specialest frame/bike manufacturers "De Wilde" and "Van Raam".

If any of that makes sense, my dutch is average to poor these days.

Google says:

Founder Of Van Servellen

Establishment 1905

Rotterdam office

Abolition 1982

The Central Rijwielhandel, A. of Servellen, Oppert 97, Rotterdam. In the years before the second world war DCR located at the Delft canal 37 and Exit 59 Street. During the war years the company was in Rotterdam, but in The Hague in the New Molstraat 31. After the war returned to Rotterdam on the DCR address Jensiusstraat 5.

DCR mounted pretty good bikes under his own name and under the trademark "The Coursing Cycle" and "ornatus. DCR was bike supplier of the Rotterdam police and the municipality (at DCR is not a bike anymore, they were assembled at Cove, Blerick). DCR was some years importer of the Italian brand Bianchi.

The building at the Jensiusstraat was cracked after the failure of DCR. The Rotterdam is the only squat with any show of force by police was cleared to make way for a business complex.

DCR bought the frames before the second world war in Locomotive and later with specialist frame builders like De Wilde, Volendam, and Van Window, Amsterdam.
