drivekp60
Installed the suspension today.... t3 sleeve and spring kit strut tubes shortened 2" 6" sleeves 350 lb springs 75mm tein keepers Lowering springs that have been compressed 40mm. Unknown brand. (were red but weren't cobras or pedders) Im using ke70 wagon rear shocks to hold it captive, but am going to upgrade them soon. Cut down bump stops, has about 30mm travel left. A strut brace i modified to fit. It didn't fit on with the factory air box so currently running no filter. Im planing to put my other engine in this weekend anyway. How it sits at the moment. 13x6 and 13x6.5 work equip 01s. Can wind the coilovers down heaps more. Will cut the rear springs a little and wind the coilovers down one day soon. Need lower profile tyres asap! Callum
drivekp60
Finished swapping the engine over. Got it with a standard 4k, now has the following upgrades. specs: kelford fast road cam lightened flywheel 32/36 weber electric dizzy extractors into 2" pipe exedy clutch and 5 speed box. Goes heaps better, still have to swap the diff head over though. Ive got a locked 4.3 ratio to put in, i think the one in it at the moment is a 3.9 ratio, so it should help acceleration a little. Bolted in the Recaros. Swapped my wheels over aswell, looks better IMO. Tires are a little bit lower profile too...Looks a bit high in the front in this picture, will wind the coilovers down a bit asap. Its got a factory head unit that only gets AM which sucks. Ive got a head unit to put in but don't know where to mount it as It doesn't fit in the glove box. I don't want it to be visible as it will look like shit and i want to keep it original looking as possible inside. discussion thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
So I put the 4.3 ratio diff head in, which made a huge difference seeing as the old diff head was a 3.4. (didn't even know they did a 3.4) It was an x code diff which has the smaller 5.6" crown wheel and skinnier axles as apposed to the 6" u code diff and it turns out the u code rear ends also have bigger drums. So i just swapped them over with my other car. I also pulled out my dash so that i could remove the air conditioning unit to give me room to cut the back of my glove box out to fit a head unit in. Ended up being a bit of a mission really. and pretty much replaced this with this Then put the dash back in and cut a hole in the back of the glove box for the back of the head unit to poke through. now looks like this. garage life. discussion //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
WOF time Not much of an update but ive got some big plans in the near future, including an engine conversion. A photo that my mate took a while ago. Callum
drivekp60
New parts. I got an AJPS lock spacer, not a massive improvement but noticeable none the less. (added a 1/4 turn each way) Couldn't take a photo of what the lock was like before because i didn't have a camera, but this is how it looks now. Also new engine and box setup Gen 1 16v big port 4a-ge and t50. Has an ae86 rwd 4age intake manifold and 4a-ge to k series engine mounts, still converting the water lines to suit the rwd configuration. Nardi steering wheel and HKB boss kit. (i bought a nardi horn button but it doesn't fit) I picked up these cusco camber plates for cheap. They are from an evo 7, i might modify them to fit or just buy some new ones that fit my car. yea my garage is a mess. disscuss viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
Engines in. Cut a new hole for the gearstick as it sits about 100mm further back than factory. Also ran a clutch line, i grabbed a clutch line off my brothers old crashed corona and bent it to fit, fitted perfectly and thats where i stole my clutch master cylinder from too. Ive got two sets of extractors and none of them fit right, one set hits the starter motor and the other ones hang to low. Once the cars back on the ground they will be a few center meters off the ground.... It was a nice surprise to find that someone had stood on and broken my mint larger radiator. Decided to get a honda civic aluminum radiator. $140 trade me spacial. and got me one of these. Im picking up my modified gearbox X member this weekend and getting a drive shaft, which will unfortunately still need to be modified. discussion thread viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
Getting close now. Gearbox cross member is done. Mounted radiator. My mate wired the 4a-ge up for me, its the first engine hes wired up but everything seems fine so far. The loom will have to come back out to be tidied up at a later date. Video of it running. Currently has no exhaust. Should be getting my drive shaft back from center line in a couple of days then it will be drivable but still need an external fuel pump. My old 4k. discussion viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
I finished off the hydraulic clutch.....kinda. Mounted the Walbro fuel pump and driveshaft. Even got a new exhaust. 4 into 1 extractors to a 2 1/4" pipe with a bullet muffler in the middle and a big muffler on the back. It had a dumpy tip, but my mate welded a bit of 2 1/2" pipe on the back for me. So it drives now, but not without some small problems to begin with, it would drive a couple hundred meters then stall. Figured out the alternator wasn't charging the battery so sorted that out and then it went fine. It seems the person that owned the motor before me snapped one of the bolts that holds the water pump on so it leaks out the water pump gasket. just means i have to top it up every now and again. Also got some new wheels. Hayashi Street 13 x 7 +7 offset and 13 x 8 0 offset rear. front. They will tuck under once i dial a little more camber in. Im going to run 175 50 r13s which means i wont be running them for a while because Ive got other stuff to pay for and don't want to run weak sized tyres on them and it will drop my car under 100mm so probably wait till after cert. And i got some bug eye starlet knuckles which give me 10mm track and 1 degree camber. (needed them to get my wheel alignment right due to the lock spacer making it so i couldn't adjust my tie rod enough) Can you notice the slight camber? drivekp60
So i picked up some 165 55 r13s nankangs for a decent price. Put them onto the streets, used fire to get them onto the 7s but had to use a 12" bike tube for the 8s. wound down the coilovers to suit. (exhaust is 15mm off the ground) Also got some 20v silvertop quad throttle bodies with 50mm trumpets and some better coilovers that are body adjustable and have adjustable damper. got more sweet parts on the way. disscussion //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
More parts arrived. Techno toy tuning camber plates, upper hat system and rcas. Finally got a nardi horn button that fits. 13x5.5 toms igetas with 175 50 yokohama a539s, will probly put the tyres onto my equips. I got these seats off mutiny seeing as mine aren't a matching pair. I also got a te71 disc rear end but i think its going to be easier to go with a hilux diff. Photo dump. discuss //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
A few new bits and pieces. t3 short shift kit and a genuine trd gear knob. 55% reduction in throw, the trd kit is only about 30% reduction. Picked up these chrome rain guards, about as rare as rocking horse shit. I reckon they look pretty cool. suits the other chrome trim nicely. My mate gave me this badge as someone had removed mine before i got the car. Japanese nostalgia parkup? my dads restored gsx 1100 katana. I went on the oldschool cruise to kaikoura, it was a nice drive around the hills with like minded people. my car didnt have too many problems, just an oil leak or three. Thanks to those who took the photos. tried doing some drifting at the go kart track. i like this photo because it makes my paint look decent (its not). I raised it up for daily use, will be lowered again after certification (the roads here are shit especially after the earthquake). also got some adapter bushes so that i can fit ae86 struts. Im looking for some if anybody has some they are willing to sell or just the brake setup, hubs, disks, calipers etc. discussion viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224&start=40 Callum
drivekp60
Not much been happening lately, seems ive got to the expensive part of the build. Swapped some of my tyres onto the work equips thanks to CUL8R. Striped out the interior, bye bye back seats. When i bought my diff it wasn't assembled so finally got around to putting it all together, thought id snap a quick photo. Zenki ae86 non lsd. Just realized I never put up a photo of the unnecessary wires that my mate striped out of the 4age loom and kp loom, still more to be removed. This is his SR20det ke70. discussion //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic. ... 4&start=40 Callum
drivekp60
Progress has been slow as of late. I got a nice new work space with a lot more room which makes life a lot easier. The motors been out for a couple of months to try fix an oil leak and a few other bits and pieces. Put on a new 10lb flywheel that im borrowing and gave the cam covers a lick of paint. Also gave the motor a good clean. Bought a few parts too. TRD shocks/ coilovers for the rear, not sure if im going to use them as the sleeves are pretty shit. Willwood calipers, 260mm slotted discs all mounted to ae86 struts. just put the motor back in tonight should have it running within a few days. discuss: //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 Callum
drivekp60
So i got the motor all up and running in time for the nostalgic hero meet. relocated the battery to inside the cabin. how the engine bay looks now. I finally got around to painting the mirrors and gave the outside a good tidy up/polish. Photos from the meet/cruise thanks to Hayden Crocker and Daniel Mirfin. Driving a lowish car on the road was nowhere near as bad as i thought it would be, a few bumps and scrapes. disscuss viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224&p=779415#p779415 Callum
drivekp60
Thought it was about time for an update. picked up this wing a while back, i don't really plan on running it. I don't think it suits the rest of the car. Got a 90 degree reducer for the filter so that its not as cramped. Also twisted the camber plates around to add more caster. Swapped out the wood grain hand brake for a black one. Heavy duty sway bar (26mm compared to 23mm) with extra caster pull. Haven't put this in yet as i need to modify brackets/to lazy. T3 knuckles for putting in ae86 struts. discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224 I need to hurry up and get this thing certed, sick of not driving it. any chance of getting a new page. thanks Callum

drivekp60
So as you can see i attended a drift day at Ruapuna last weekend. Trying to drift such a small car was a bit challenging for me but was super fun. Until halfway through the day i went a bit wide and got all up on the ripple strip and snapped an Axel. I went home and got my spare axle and managed to get back out there for the last session of the day. Defiantly need to make a few changes before the next track day. need a better seat, modded knuckles and sort out the rear suspension. all in all it was an awesome day. A few more photos thanks to fliboi and awesomepowered.com. This photo was seconds before snapping my axle. Short clip from my gopro. UPU-6PLFqJ8 Will do another update some time soon about changes to the car. discuss: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25224&start=60 Callum
