Crazytims TF Gemini Wagon- the other Uber Clean Mobile

Recommended Posts

Bought this bad girl to use as a company car... rolling old school! Already have #2 almost complete with #3 sitting in the barn waiting for paint and some custom work to her snout... this shit is getting addictive!

Not that this car is Uber Clean (yet) was/is well filthy! Dude mustv lived on a gravel road. Washed all the fiddly bits where dirt sits and starts rust, inside doors, under boot tray (will eventually rip out the gas tank and clean under that too as well as rust proof/cavity wax the fuk outta it. Vehicle will be carrying acid and chemicals so will def need to get onto this asap...

Only took group pics of the wagon with the other 3 before I started changing the car, so far changed grill, head lites, bonnet and door cards as well as stripping and cleaning the dash grills and tail lites and detail cleaning of such stuff as door jambs and other painted areas not externally cleaned whilst washing.

Also sprayed some color match 'monza red' over the big primer patch on side of car. And put on some sign writing for the business.

Have reserved a set of 80% tread 2nd hand 195/55/14s to go on my piazza rims for this wags... (reserved till Im paid next near end of month...) altho the spitfires are growing on me, defnitly reckon they looks horrid witrh the TG headlites/grill...

Plans are to paint floor pan with bedliner paint, spray bomb any other painted bits in footwell satin blk, remove monster tach, put in SLX gauges, Replace damaged gauge surround, install centre console, mount my recaros on gem rails and mash them in as the std gem sedan seats are A.) Fuct, and B.) dont have a quik release to recline outta the way if u wanna grab somthing outta the back... Reckon I cud get some of this done this weekend... also need to chuk another coat of red over the primer and put my signwriting over it.

Pics... then bed, I sick :-[

chucked the red bonnet from my 1st wag (1st t car!) on as the matty b one was rangi and had holes from a dodgy install of what must have been a well hideous bonnet scoop... Reckon its lookin pretty mint now, will keep doing the elcheapo tidy up on it...

*COPIED AND PASTED FROM GM-T... may not all make sense...*

modded gem seat rails to fit my GSR recaros... way comfier!!!

Also took out monsta tach and shift light and replaced gauge surround for one with no holes drilled in it, whacked in my SLX gauges...waaaaay betterer! Makes it look a lot tidier with non fuct seats and without the gauge and shift lite.

The seats were also blue....didnt really go with a red car. Recaros are black with grey inserts. More neutral.

Slowly keep ticking things off the list! Cant wait till 20th of the month so I can get paid and put the tyres on the Piazza rims... Spitfires aren't bad looking rims but a 14" rim will look way betterer... could chuk 17s on but cant really be bothered, plus if I do I'd be paranoid when I take the car over to Waiheke Island next week. Gotta work there cleaning up the public lavvies for best part of a month. Will stay there mon-fri and park car up on the weekends. Probably just pace back and forth all weekend if I left the 17s on it... gana be paranoid enough as is... hate not having my toys with me or safely tucked away in the barn or garages...

all set up with my gear at the 1st waiheke job

waihekeweek1176.jpg

always liked a dirty girl... a trademark of most cars on waiheke! (especially ones that have been out for a skid on the dirt roads!) steps out very nicely!

On a side note 3 of the 4 tyres dont feckn hold pressure! Lucky I've got new feet goin on soon! Can't wait for next WOF too so Mr Grinder can meet Mr Springs... the above photo is waaay to high! I'm no Mikuni with my ride height but that there is just embarrassing!

Spitfire rims are growing on me tho... may keep for somthing else... anyone know what stud pattern DX rollas are? Have a mate with a completely stock 4 door wags... aparently had for years, was eyeing up the Spitfires, could be a sneaky way to get him into modding his ride lol

Also just remembered can't lower too much as the oversized muffler already scrapes every now and then... need to do somthing about that 1st... will no doubt look more in proportion on 14's?! Time will tell...

Oil all over engine bay from oil cap fuct up.... massiv zorst leak, car on waiheke and cant be fuct repairing till i get home, has a bolt either snapped or missing from where the zorst mai meets the pipes. Check it out soon as tho koz losing fair bit of power from it. Apart from that been sweet and reliable and stepped out of many a side road in a sideways fashion...

Gotta wait for more tyres as shop sold the ones he reserved for me... o well.

more piccies, finished Waiheke Now!

Had some carnage, fuct one of my rear upper shock mountings ripped out. Had it professionally fixed immediately. The shock also broke the exhaust so last satday I came back on the ferry and my Mrs bought me my spare exhaust pipe section replacding the broken muffler section with a straight pipe... fuk its soooo noisy!

This car stopped working back in December. Rather than diagnosing what may have been a simple fault I saw it as an opportunity to get my other greeny gem wagon on road which I did.

However as I am due to travel back to Waiheke for most of next month I decided the other day to get this beast going again on $100 or less (not incl WOF or Rego costs)

Sunday night I put her in the barn, monday night old engine/box came out, tuesday night new engine/box went in (old engine from the sedan me and a gm-t member purchased recently) Obviously there has been heaps of small things that had to be done too but thats basicly it.

Still need to plumb/bolt/plug everything together aside from things done last nite such as g/box x-member, engine mounts, zorst mani, altenator... so still need to do clutch/accellerator/speedo cables, install carb which I'm picking up today, starter motor, reverse lights, fuel pump... think that might be all... probably forgot couple of things...

Anyway for how long shit normally takes me 3 nights doing an engine change is friggin amazing!

Just a quick note, a few weeks ago only 2/7 of our cars were runners... in a couple more weeks only 2/7 won't be runners! Impressed with my progress, been slacking off too much for too long!

Cabriolet now works, this wagon will work next day or 2, Chevini project should be in a state where it drives under own power in next week or two... all coming together nicely!

Wednesday night saw me starting the engine!! Woohoo 1st pop!! Stoked!

Need to top up all fluids, remove and reinstall drive shaft (stubborn ass bolts  ) connect reverse lights, chuck air cleaner on, adjust accelerator cable and I think thats about it.

After some rot being stitched up on drivers side floorpan reckon it will even get a WOF!!!

Thursday night saw me taking this biarch for a long awaited spin!! Stoked to have it done, the tidy up begins! Interior is a mess, as is engine bay, cleaned nothing prior to putting engine in lol, looked like old engine was belching oil everywhere...

As always rust was way worse than thought. Whole drivers side floorpan has been replaced, couple of plates on passenger side floor and plates in seam of firewall into the inner guard on both sides.

Floor has then been sprayed with a rubberised underbody sealer as caprpet isn't an option for a work car (jumping in and out with gumboots etc)

Sorted out a few minor problems today such as leaky exhaust flange, faulty reverse lamp switch, made up a new battery bracket and other boring shit. Bolted seats back in too... seatbelts in tomorrow and check over for a WOF (warrant of fitness, similar to your 'roadworthies' except done every 6 months which siux when you own a 25-30yr old car!)

Also repainted the faded flames on the bonnet just to tidy it up a bit (was looking way rough!)

Anyway nearly finsihed thank crap!

Wow... havn't updated this for a-g-e-s... it is driven daily by my worker. Not much has changed... needs head replaced ASAP as 2 of the spark plugs have reamed their threads, have spare just need to get it checked and tidied up.

The rusty red gem pictured here:

timdaddydogsfonepxt323.jpg

has been exchanged for a years worth of tattoo sittings which I have already done 3 decent sized pieces on my right arm over 6 sittings...

Anyway plan for my red Uber Clean wagon:

Repaint As soon as I can spare the funds! Looking at a nice candy red of some description, shade hasn't been decided.

The back side windows will also be paneled over. I did indeed steal the chrome bumpers from the tattoo wagon before making deal with him... so the end caps will be restored, new filler strips front and back sourced (or likely made)

Needs low... this will wait for paint first though before any money gets spent on it, unless it is to keep the thing on road!

Wheels, the wide steels I picked up that are currently on green wagon will likely end up residing on this. Will not be able to go any lower than green wag though as I discovered last night it scrapes on judder bars :doubt:

Anyway I'm hoping I can get this painted in next few months, been sayingf it for ages but it is a fucking terrible representation for my business!!!

It is going to recieve panel van panels over rear side windows and chrome front and rear bars and ASAP some lowering springs and sweeter wheels... CANT WAIT!

Head is at West Auckland Engine Reconditioners. $450+gst which is poo but had to take two heads in as first was cracked. @nd one had worn exhaust guides so price incl sorting those and pressure test, strip x2, cleanx2, bead blast head and intake mani, reassemble etc.

Grill is at the Grill and Bumper Exchange in Glenfield getting a crack sorted.

Got a bucket of bits Black Zinced bolts/brackets etc... look all good and will look great against the new paint.

Heading back now for MOAR!!!

Still need to desperately purchase side mirrors, lowering springs, oil/fluids/filters etc etc etc and other stuff that has been forgot.

CANT WAIT!

Well failed to get it done for the Oldschool leadfoot cruise... lucky I had a spare! The green wag had the wide steels bashed on it late the night before and a quick wash. She performed great, probably the longest trip its had : )

Anyway red car drove home the other night! Still bumperless and sitting a mile in the air on stock springs : /

Also has temporary grill fitted... need to get TE grill painted still, is sitting at the shop in primer.

Just having it painted black. The bumpers are having timber inserts made up to replace the rubber filler strips which are knackered. These will be stained and oiled and hopefully look pretty sweet/different.

Currently doing a rather good impression of a rollerskate on my 17s!

Put dash in yesterday, went wityh 2 tone brown and tan. Also fitted Chevette wagon door trims in tan with black centre and carpet at bottom which look quite smashing. Also brings black into the colour scheme meaning the black steering column surround and centre console units won't look out of place.

Fairly happy with it all, wishing I had bought more than 4L of basecoat though... paint is a little thin, probably shouldn't have done engine bay in body colour. You live and learn and I learnt lots about the processes and prep etc of automotive refinishing.

Next on agenda is removing lowering springs from my green Chevini hatch and jamming them in... need adjustable panhard rod before doing this though... so yeah...

O yea mirrors, need mirrors ASAP... and liner for cargo area. Have a sheet of checker plate for the floor/tray. Will be hunting out a cheap sheet of plywood for side panels, mainly so nothing smacks the panels from inside and to hide the inside of the panels.

As you were!

Been slack... got bumpers on the other day, only bothered uploading pics last night.

I know I know I know, needs more low/slam, looks like a skyscraper etc etc etc... don't go pointing out the obvious. I am well broke and need an adj panhard rod before I can consider it so it will likely stay this way until I can wrangle or modify one.

Focusing on multiple projects with minimal funds sucks.

Anyway aside from bumpers not being square and centred pretty happy... will probably restain the timber inserts with darker stain... still some work to do to interior and most importantly get some mirrors on it, have M-A-S-S-I-V-E blindspots!

Anyway Panno is finally complete looking. Yay!
