Well this car has been in the family for a very long time, used to be my mums daily car, then she stopped using it and my grandpa drove it (got a fair few dings from him sadly)

Then my grandpa couldn't drive any more so it was stored in their garage for 8 years.

We got it out of storage just over a year ago, got my uncle to come up and get it running again

Anyway, its rego is on hold (don't want to lose the old skool original looking white-on-black plates) and it failed its WOF for some stupid reasons which are easy fixes

So here it is now, starts first pop every time, doesn't blow too much smoke haha

Just needs brakes bled and the clutch is starting to stick - uncle comming back up to auckland soon so will get him to check it while hes up

Its 100% original, with 54,000 miles on the clock

I will get some better photos of it when I take it for its drive around the block tomorrow to stop anything ceasing up like last time (someone left its handbrake on for about 7 months storage which got jammed on last time)

Just got the first modification for it the other day, the stock steering wheel is too big for me to comfortable drive the car (couldn't actually fit well) so been working on getting a new one for about a year now

Finally, realised my uncle had a spare one lying around he was planning on using on his offroad project but its too small for offroading so now I have it

Havn't fitted it but it seems good, don't know if it will fit, its just got a universal boss kit so will need to check it out some time

  • 1 month later...

Just discovered the photos in the first post had died - so fixed those

Had my uncle around fixing everything that was wrong when we took it for its last warrent and it failed. New wheel bearings, bled brakes/clutch, etc, etc and is now running mint, its so nice to drive

Havn't put the steering wheel in, its quite nice keeping it 100% original, and the wood might look strange. I am used to the massive wheel now anyway, so see how it goes.

Took it for another WOF and failed AGAIN but if I get around to it, then it should be road legal by the end of the week. The things left to do are requiring specialist tools so I will be taking it to a brake specialist and a panel beater to get the last of it done during this week, I am just hoping for good weather, it hasn't been driven in the rain for 10 years I would say

So close to road legal! But yea, when I bring it back home from the hangar I will get some new pics I promise haha

After its road legal I am trying to find a very cheap CD headunit for it and going to be putting my fusion speakers in (won them at 4 & rotor nats 2006 auckland soundoff) just so there is some music, the stock headunit has given up a while back and is AM only

Got it going into Geddes Automotive in Onehunga tonight where they will store it and work on it tomorrow, they can do everything it needs no problem and it sounds reasonable price so yea, should be fixed by tomorrow evening, WOF on thursday, driven on friday :)

If they do a decent job I might use them for an exhaust - they also do them haha, seem to be a true one stop shop!
