RT
those are some sexy pipes man. How about an updated engine pic?
Gaz
You really dont want to see the ugz engine bay. Pipes arnt on yet, look to fit however. Will take pic once new pinto is in with pipes on and battery in boot. Might look better then. Props not tho. Paintbrushed black bay looks henece. Needs a respray in the silver. Just dont know whats going to need cutting for when i finally do that sr conversion.
RT
and when will that be? meh, I have a POR15 black engine bay.. doesn't look too bad.. should have really painted it. But meh.. i've got first dibs on your extractors when you don't need em anymore.
Gaz
Well thats a good point actually. Nah, am saving money for shit now. Its a long story but ill break it down for ya. Had heaps of pinto stuff lying round. ported 1600 head, clutches, flywheels, cams whatever. Have/am rebuilding pinto to maybe 130-140hp spec. Cortina diff, 5speed exhaust. This engine will get me to welly and run around for 6months to a year while my sr is in the build on an engine stand. (building to 250-300kw before engine goes in) When I have the engine finished and ready to go in the pinto will come out and I will sell it as complete conversion kit for escort. Hopefully that way i will get a few grand maybe. Thats the plan, so hopefully in a year i should have a mini tubbed close on 300kw escort
RT
what plans have you got to get 300kw? Are you building it yourself? Incidently, I always said I didn't want a massive turbo on my as its a road car mainly..also thought I must be on the limits anyway 250hp. But I picked up a magazine the other day and there was this escort with a very similar setup to mine. Same internal spec etc. Except it ran a big TO4 Garret. Made 225kw (300hp) at the rear wheels consistantly.. now I'm starting to think twice Oh how I love the power addiction.
Gaz
Yeah people just always make bigger and better aye. Everyone seems to have the plans of boosting an oldschooler. Philip from premier has 300kw at the tread in his sr escort. Oh how I love the power addiction. lol.Thats my thinking. Instead of wanting more power. why not just make it damn hot for an escort in the first place. I was thinking forged internals, rods (which aparently arnt needed for 300kw from an sr20), bigger cams, fuel pump, injectors, microtech ecu, maybe a port job (havnt decided, probably not), throtle body, BOV, wastegate, cooler, exhaust and the big money 'garret 35/40 roller bearing' This turbo means i can boost it up more if needed. Or if i decide to go for 250kw then an evo 7 td05h. Just the thinking that a turbo that can do 250kw is $900 odd bucks so why not spend another 900 and get the big boy. I still am not 100% sure as of yet. Really depends on what engine I buy. I have just started looking at importing a whole s13 from Jap at the moement. Seems to cheap to be true. Also just went and saw the cert guy and he said the car will have to be fully seam welded up, extra roll bars welded in ie not a roll cage, and some other shit i wasnt planing on doing that adds to the price a bit. Gaz
how do you get so much money methodz100?? i want your job Haha nah you dont. Im a student. Just have a half finished car and i know where i want to go with it. I spend basically all my money on my car and a few beers. Its been slow since I went back to study. I will be working next year however. I even gave up smoking this year so that i could still put money away for car fund. Extra 30 odd bucks a week but slowly it is adding up. I supose i will regret it when i go to buy a house and look over at my car. Way i see it is that if it is fast enough itll sell for alot more than if its moderatly fast. Hope it works out. RT
I know what you mean, not about selling as I will never sell mine. It's just not worth the losses. But I build most of it when I was a stundent and it was difficult cos I wanted all these things and couldn't afford them. That when I had to learn to do shit myself or it wouldn't happen. But now that I've got a decent job I had to finish off what I started.. my dream of building my capri into a street weapon. So I've just poured money at it and won't stop until I'm satisfied. Then I'll start saving for a house.
Gaz
Yeah cars while your young then house. Im sure once i get a house i will be equally interested in souping it up. atropine
yeah same with my escort never selling.. think itd be easier to make the money back by selling the engine seperate as well.. lol
Gaz
Sucks really. You put hard time and work into a car and you dont get much back for it compared to what you put in.
lowlancer
Yeah but you don't want to sell it in that case anyway. Try owning an obscure Japanese car, even worse. I've spent quite a bit on my car, be lucky to get 2 grand tomorrow for it! Meh

Bistro
Yea I was talking to this engineer in Lvn who was building 3 group 4 mk2 escorts zetec powered for this pom. The owner said it was just too hard to find a good 2dr shell, and he comes over here and picks one up the first week or so. Mad aye. Said he was going to ship 2 back to England and recoup his $$ spent on the 3rd which will be his.
