  3. I'm super amature when it comes to forums, still trying to figure out how to upload photos and share links so bare with me cheers!
  4. Hey team I am new to this forum business but I thought that I'll give it a shot! The ke30 has been in the family for a good 17 or so years ever since my sister purchased it as her first car. It was pretty much standard, rocking a 3k and a four speed manual gearbox. It also had a lovely mustard yellow paint job. While in Kate's (sister) possession she had it painted ford blue, swaped out the engine and gearbox for a 4k and a five speed manual and put on a sweet set of 14" tridents. The car was then daily driven for around four years until Kate decided to upgrade to a newer car. However she could not bare to let the trusty old Rolla go so it resided on mums lawn for the next three odd years slowly but surely being eaten away by rust. When I was 14 I had finally managed to convince her to hand the ke30 down to me, cheers sis! Having no money though the best thing I could do was to get into dry storage at the old mans as it was now no way warrantable and I had already decided it was going to be a big restoration project. Many years had past until last year when I decided enough was enough! And managed to convince the old fella to make the body rust free for a few boxes of beer, he is a panel beater after all. So currently the car is now fully rust free and strait all primed up for a coat of paint this summer. I have also purchased a near complete worked 5k, was missing the block and one con-rod. I'm sure you guys can put two and two together there. I now have the block just need to get it bored out and skimmed, haven't located a set of stronger con-rods yet. Still a lot to do on the car and a long road ahead but I'll keep chipping away and keep this thread up dated!! Also still trying to figure out how to upload pics but I'll upload some when I do!
  5. Hey people, I know there has been a lot of conversions to SR20DET into KE7x's in Australia, mainly because front cuts are cheap there and KE7x's are so cheap they are sometimes free, And there has been a lot of debate about running the s13 suspension and mostly negative opinions in regards to the changing of the steering geometry and a much wider track but on the positive side you can gain far better adjustable suspension for 1/3 the price (being second hand) compared to building a set of adjustables or using after market AE86 ones. But what are your guys/girls thoughts on this? I am contemplating doing either an S13 front conversion or a mix of S13 suspension onto KE70 x member in my KE20, to utilize better brakes, suspension and lock, Similar to Max Fouhys KE70, but I will be running a 4AGE/7AGE not and SR20 Rob.
  6. Discussion - //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=10060 Hey guys, I decided on making a project thread as motivation has been running low on the 30 project, HOT weather + panel shaping is not ideal conditions to get my ass into gear. The start, Granddad bought this car new back in 1978 when it was first registered and handed down to me in 2001. During the years 2001 - 2006 it has been pretty much sitting in a garage as was uninterested. Finally realising cars are awesome I thought it was about time I getting this car looking good again. In the current state of no front doors on it and multicolored it is far from bearable. Over the last few months general rust has been cut and plated out. The vinyl roof which was in way of much rust, mostly surface bust still there had to be removed. For good. Also got some modgies which was an impulse buy sitting in the garage. Dont think they will ever hit the car so theyre on trademe. Hopefully I will try to do make some progress each day. 7. not my car, but you may like it anyway This is a few pics of mates ke30, and the build of his wicked 2tgeu to cut a long story short, a 2tgeu is a 1600 twin cam that is kinda like the 4age's old cousin haha anyway this one has been stroked with 3tgte rods and crank, and has oversized pistons as well, so its roughly 1900cc the engine has been built my flatmate damian, and its his ke30 he has spent a crap load of money on the build of this engine, and some of the mods include: lightened crank/rods, oversized pistons, stroked, knife edged crank/rods, raised compression, lightened flywheel, lightened crank pulley, basically the bottom end is as worked as it gets the head has absolutely huge cams in it (thanks to kelford cams) i'm not 100% sure of the specs, i'll post them up when i find out, but they are big enough that you can see the size of the valve pockets that had to be cut in the pictures, the amount of lift is huge, also the head has had many many many hours spent reconditioning it and porting it, all port matched and flowing like mad to top it all of he has a set of 20v quad throttle bodies, with fancy trumpets and a link computer without a doubt i've forgotten some of the other goodies engine wise anyway here are the pics
