  1. Hi Shaneo, yea great meeting you. That would be great thanks, name your beer. I will send you a pm. They would do for now till i get around to getting new ones. Better the none Cheers
  2. yeah got it on the road about November 2011, only been about 6 years Still needs carpet, weather seals, some small bits n peices, got sick of it sitting there getting scratched and seeing other oldschool cars crusing around. Started the project thread to show what i did, but i need to update it Brought the pinto off trademe, had run a main bearing (bit of alloy had got in from somewhere) luckly didnt make much mess. Its a 205 block, skimmed block so pistons are flush & 40thou overbore. I had the crank polished, put in new rings and bearings. Head is standard at this stage, but seems to have a mild cam but dont know specs, did a valve grind when it was apart. Rebuilt weber 32/36, and cast marks removed from inside intake manifold, Ramflo filter & extractors. New clutch but standard weight flywheel (mistake should of lightenend it while it was off!) Still running points but want to change to electronic ignition and plan to play with the head a bit. Also want to increase the sump size, been cut down to fit the escort x-member but takes stuff all oil. Didnt want to spend much $$ at the mo so painted the rostyles black but came out looking ok Next up is a 50mm suspension drop, got the blocks last week, wanting to find a deal on front springs
  3. yea but most of our projects started from a plie of junk, we spend more time on them than our wives They are still a cool care to have, i had one for a short time, 3l v6, 5spd in black, went hard, liked going sideways But hes lucky to have someone help him out, well done.
  4. Looking good, keep at it. Good choice of engine they put out good power.
  5. Got a mate to spray the bionic blue paint, took the colour from the new ford falcons. Looks good but not 100% down with the colour, needs some chrome mags or something. Running escort rostyles blacked out, will do for now. Got a new fiberglass front wing off trademe, added that and fiberglass 1/4 bumpers it. Improved the look big time!! Also put the early round lights in, not a fan of the square lights
  6. Saved this mk2 4dr from the crusher was just a rough rolling shell when i got it about 6 years ago. Slowly worked on it over time, got it on the road just before christmas F@#KEN YAY , not completely done but good enough to drive around. Got sick of walking past it all the time Its now running a rebuilt 2.0l pinto & type 9 5sp Discussion: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=31332 Main areas on the body that needed attention was the tops of the guards and left rear corner which someone had done a shit job of trying to repair with lots of body filler!!. Only had small rust spots in the drivers floor which we cut out, and r/f door was full of rust, chucked the door & put a better one on With a bit of hammer & dolly work & filling & sanding, the back panel started to come up alright Also had ago at the engine bay, cut out the battery tray and radiator shroud and filled some factory spot weld dimples, had the idea of having a smooth clean look engine bay, why i did this who knows Relocated the battery to the boot area. Primed & block sanded it back a coulpes times till it was ready for colour more to come
  7. Hi Stacov, in regards to your last post on your project have a look at the size ot the jets in side the carb, if the carbs come straight from the 2l it might be dumping to much fuel in. Sounds like its loading up at low rpm (your flat spot). 1600 should be running smaller jets than the 2.0l, or maybe try a smaller carb 28/32. Also check the plugs if they black its a sign that your running to rich.
  8. Otahuhu Tuning, in Saleyards Rd Otahuhu. Been around for many years. They tune on a rolling road. They do all cars from race cars to shopping carts. Rodgers the man, but others there are good. Wont hit your pocket like some of the others.
  9. Great idea! im a keen! My 18 mth old girl loves cars, she goes to speedway, plays with tonka trucks & hotwheels. Like to keep in and around cars as she grows.
  10. I want to try the paper trick!! Wow who comes up with these ideas. Butcher me used a hammer and screwdriver!! Not cool.
  11. Started my escort project with the zetec, brought the mounts from Burtons UK, made a sump and thermo housing, but real problem was the cost of aftermaket injection, fuel pumps and ecu plus getting it tunned, was going to cost heaps. In the end i sold the motor and put in the pinto, wasted 2 years with the zetec, now finaly have my esky on the road and dont miss the zetec You can run the factory injection and computor, but theres a shit load of wires that make your engine bay look shit, and the factory set up has no more power than a mild pinto! The real advantage comes from aftermaket injection or bike carbs. If you got coin and d.i.y in your d.n.a then will be a good project
