  1. been a bit slack posting removed sound deadening, all gone now, one side just needs cleaning up, will get recent pics this weekend. Some interesting factory patch panels/panel beating too lol During after tbc cut some rust out for patchs. about 4 holes in total, this is the biggest Cleaned one up and cut a patch from my old mr2 engine bay lid. Tried to weld one of the smaller ones up. did a fair bit of practice on some offcuts. Stitch welded the piece up, cleaned the welds then went to fill in the gaps and kept getting blow-through, getting a die grinder so I can square the holes up nicely and make it easier to clean welds up. Also going to buy some fresh steel rather than use scrap from old mr2 engine bay lid. hope that helps. If anyone has tips they would be appreciated! Picked up parts car from auckland. mint doors, quite a few bagdes and trim in good nick and almost new carpet! woo. Only parts im after now are front guards, might get a panel shop to fix these ones up when I have a bit of cash. reg still live and almost rust free so tempting to use this instead but I will persevere and make this body rust free and might do the parts car up after. First time it saw rain in 20+ years.. bloody summer. Guy I got it from has a mint yellow one with red interior as well.
  2. update from this weekend. progress is slow, generally a couple of hours a day finished off the roof and took the doors and guards off worst bit so far found some hidden treats in the sills, not too bad, steel patchs will just be simple angles so far! and some random pics Benchy!! back seat with no rips! just the top piece/material missing
  3. got some more stripping done roof gutters had some kind of sealant put in them during its life and this was holding on the chrome strip, unfortunately couldnt get this off without damaging it so need replacements and all cleaned up back stripped, need to grind/sand back all the welds on the sills/lower body replacements rear boot shut gutters all good To do: finish stripping roof, front and rear bits find new doors, front guards. Need to find cash to buy parts car on trademe for the doors and trims etc remove interior and then strip door sills, floor new sound deadening, carpet upholstery
  4. Got out to the garage today for a few hours, did rear quarter and started on the back. pretty straight so far. not sanding to far back once metals showing as I only have p60 pads and don't want to thin it too much, will get the last bits of old paint off with 120 before priming no rust holes, several small dings but only minor
  5. Progress from yesterday, bit slow as there is ~5 layers to strip off. didn't get around to working on it today, hopefully will get the majority of the car, including welding the rust patches done over christmas break
  6. Defintely read through your threads on here and Bellett forums alistair, nice work! Did some work today, bonnets bare back to bare metal will work through rest of body and look for new guard and/or doors

  8. Bellett I recently purchased to replace my aw11 i sold bought unseen on trademe, bit of a risk but pretty happy with the result, runs and drives well, had a wof 2011, reg on hold bad points -Doors -Guards -3x small bits of rust to weld patches in, boot shut, top of one sill and passenger floorpan, overall not bad though -wayyy too high -paint to do -either find better doors and guards or repair current ones -strip paint to bare metal, started already -paint, will do myself, thinking gulf blue or similar at this stage, maybe black bonnet -low -interior re-trim -misc trim bits, seals etc -in future g161z from holden/isuzu gemini but current g150 will stay for a while Delivery Interior, all gauges work, some bits to remove, wheel to be re-done after removing front trim bits, started stripping paint after this ass shot worst rust to repair (apart from FL guard, and its not even a bit hole More bog than guard paint has 2-3 layers so a lot of places look way worse in photos, rear arches are mint, nothing under carpets except for small hole Inspiration colour I am thinking
  9. got the front arms of the fronte rebuilt (dual wishbone), cost a bit more than i wanted but meh shit happens rear brakes are a bit screwed, dragging on the hub, will need to sort out, then get crossmember rewelded, put engine in, route cooling and see if it starts lol oh yer an fix a few rusting bits
  10. time for pics from holidays headgasket (hand for scale purposes): stripped paint off the wheels: tested said wheels: not happy with the front suspension with spring in, way to high and tight with spring in, did some measuring and can take a couple of coils out, will do that when i get my hands on some more stock springs, just in case lol pic of the rh suspension is with spring in, lh is with no spring. rh side spring seems to be pusshing down wayyy to much seems like with susp compressed a bit of camber i might get away with no flares stock vs new: speedo definitely will run slower lol gona be getting 155/65/13, if they fit
  11. got some better pics with new camera: been working slowly on the suspension changing it to 4x110 and disc fronts, fronts of these are ridiculously hard to get the spring in
  12. im sure this car is familiar to people here, thought I would chuck up a post about my progress bought last month, interior had a thorough cleaning done, in the process of changing over the suspension to the 4x110 stud hubs and disc brake fronts. has been on hold while i try to fix other cars I have the watercooled engine which ill chuck in once i make up a new headgasket and see if it runs. and try to rebuild the aircooled engine i got with it plans are to fix the few bits of rust on it, get a wof and use it as a daily the fleet of wallowed cars 2 stroke watercooled goodness interior gauges (note the km's http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=gs9425) manual squirtty wash bottle
