  1. try running the serial number through on this site, you might find some info www.carjam.co.nz good luck Dave
  2. i lost the id tag which is rivited in the engine bay, need it to get a warrent, i have all the relevent information to get a new one but ltsa are pissing about and dont know how to do it. they said they would get back to me about it and 2 weeks later i called them and they didnt know who i was! heard that you can buy tags and stamp the numbers in yourself, i have all the paperwork with the numbers but not sure where to buy one. any ideas
  3. hey guys. bit of loctite fixed that oil leak sweet as! booked in for a warrent next saturday and if it passes, it will come to chch to get a new exhaust fitted and hopefully will have the webber carb tuned properly and can chuck that on there. as soon as its in chch i can start to tidy up all the little stuff and sort out the interior
  4. hey guys borrowed some loctite paste from work that holds up to 200 bar and temperatures of 150 degrees. i'll degrease the bolt and the hole and then paste it and torque it up tomoro. doesnt say how long it takes to cure but it sets in the absense of air. hopefully its a easy fix. i'll let you know what happens on sunday!
  5. The block is a 711m, 1300 crossflow motor. The oil only comes out when motor is running. If there is no bolt in the hole the oil really pumps out, so i thinks it must be coming from the oil gallery. With the bolt in the oil seeps out slowly. loctite paste sounds like it might be the way to fix it. How dose it react to pressure and temp. cheers Dave
  6. have discovered a oil leak coming out of my top right engine mount hole. it was slowly coming out when the car is running so i took the bolt out and started it and it started pouring out. the only reason i can think this would be happening is if theres a crack in the hole. has this happend to anyone before? the only way i think i could fix it is weld the hole. then glue the head of the bolt onto the engine mount so it looks like its done up. only realised this leak once i had the engine running real good. cheers guys.
  7. something was wrong with the engine was going fine but would miss every 2nd revolution. i thought it was the timing, couldnt figure it out so i pulled it out took the sump of and timing cover reset the timing gears but didnt end up changing anything put it back together droped it back in and it wouldnt fire. i knew it had to be electrical. so i checked the sparks and they were weak as. changed the condensor and it was still weak its a brand new coil to. so i ended up putting a a wire straight from the coil to the battery and had a good spark at the points, but none at the plugs. took the new leads out put the old ones on and it fired up first go.
  8. yea ive adjusted those a bit but as soon as i take the choke of it splutters and dies. ive got a mate whos a mechanic to come around and check et out tomoro. he thinks i might have set the timing chain wrong.
  9. have done a full overhaul on my 1300 hundred and just started her up. she sounds mint and revs good but will only hold a idle if the choke is on. pretty sure its something to do with the air/fuel mixture. what should i try? it aslo splutters fuel out the carby as i dont have a air filter on while im working on it. ive reset the timing manually but i cant use a strobe light cause i cant get a good idle, it has a new coil, leads points. theres plenty of fuel getting pumped in. any help would be great.
  10. cheers guys. yea i took the door seals of and put new ones in. doors were'nt to bad to line up. if i was you id take the doors of. eaiser to sand it all back and to paint you door jams. but depends whos painting it cause some painters like it all one peice instead of having heaps of seperate pieces. somethings just not quite right with the engine it won't hold a idle unless the choke is on and then it idles really fast. any advice.
  11. that mk2's looks great. im not going with those mags now i have the superlights on. what do you think of my car now its all up and running. hopefully its reged, wof adn insured before xmas and in chch. whats the best insurance for a 17 year old driver driving a 36 year old car with a crash record and fines against my name? thats one of the nicest mk2s ive seen. i'll try convince dad to do his like that.
  12. looking at that last photo, mk1's are difinetly the nicer shape, i love my car so much now. all the little things that have been pissing me of dont matter anymore its all worth when your in the drivers seat! hey guys got her going finaly and even drove her round the block for the first time in over a year. felt great. cant keep my eyes of her now. took about a billion photos. last week i tried to get it going but it wouldnt fire so did the set timing again this w/e and still wouldnt fire. no spark. then swapped my coil leads and distributer cap with my old mans mk2 and she fired up. so this week i'll get a new coil and leads and next w/e i'll get a timing light , do the timing, fix the left brake light and fix the speedo. then should be good for a wof. pretty happy with the ride height considering i havn't lowered it at all. might reset the leaf springs and get the front springs compressed. got loads more pics, couldnt stop taking photos.
  13. haha, yea its pretty well hidden and slapped a bit of paint on so looks good as new. got my engine in today without too much strife. i'll post some pics up.
  14. cheers mate yea well i certainly spent the time getting it straight. do you still have the boot strip? is yours painted yet?
  15. im real stuck on what clips to use to hold the chrome on my doors and around the rear quarters. most of my old ones rusted out. is there other platic clips you can use?
