  1. Normally just one end, front is usually a fixed pivot, otherwise the whole axle would slop back and forth. I've made slightly longer ones in the past for wheel clearance
  2. You mean shorter shackles? That would be a common thing. Just make sure the spring doesn't hit the chassis rail.
  3. Worth it to make Whagnats though, for both the Woodie and the Paj.
  4. Took it for a WOF on Tuesday, was all good except for the brake lights not working. After a bit of a hunt I found the brake light switch tucked up above the engine crossmember and managed to get it out after a struggle. Apart from replacing that I spent the next three days working on son's Pajero. Made some mounts to bolt onto the custom tent rack to hold the pull-out shelter thing, and knocked up some (slightly rough) drawers on roller skate bearings.
  5. Hard work getting a new page! 7:34pm on 29th Jan Annnd 8:05pm!
  6. The interior reassembly was also a mission. This pic was midday on 28th Jan, I had a deadline of 30th Jan for family / wagnats reasons. Took a day off on Fri 27thy to get that far. There are a few separate steel pieces around the tailgate as well as the ply lower sections and all the upper trim around the windows.
  7. Putting the pieces back on wasn't too bad. It was during a warm spell though so a bit sweaty. I ended up making a lot of new bolts cut to the correct length because I didn't take careful note of what went where. Good thing I have a head of 5/6 UNC fasteners in a box
  8. With the doors, and more particularly the lower quarters quite a bit of clamping and bracing is needed to get the ply to curve to the frame form. The new wood came with a specially shaped clamping piece to get the quarters right. If you don't do this they are too 'flat' to fit on the car. It's on the good side of the quarter in this pic, with the steel par over top and a few chunks of polystrene to push the shape.
  9. Seen at Vinegar Hill. Populated by a bloke who reportedly took a cat for a walk on a leash, and a lady with purple hair. They spent some time under the hood doing something with the drive belts before leaving on Saturday
  10. I built the triangulated 4-link in the Mercury mostly based on what would fit, no calculators. It works OK I suppose, but I had to put the bags behind the diff so the ride quality is a pretty crap. Been done for several years now. You could consider swapping to a hilux diff or similar to get a steel casing then run the upper links to the centre if that helps package it better.
  11. Stick in a coffin and call it a body transfer vehicle?
  12. TBH I wouldn't use a K&N oil filter on anything. /lingpost
  13. Just whack it in and send it. (my opinion is just as good as any other on the hinternet, right?)
  14. Do you mean for IRS axles? Probably the same if it uses hooke style UJ's, but I reckon suspension travel/movement would move them through a fair range anyway.
  15. Well done, great work and fast too! Aug 2021 Jan 2023
  16. Good work on making the dies @_Matt The pullmax/nibbler machines can do a lot if you look into it.
  17. The model with the Sachs rotary?
