  1. They look alot better on Maggie then sitting in my garage
  2. bit of a sad update. looks like the little red austin has finally reached the end after going into it a few days ago and finding the floor soaked ive come to the decision that its just too far gone. but its not all a bad thing ill be stripping and parting the car then scrapping the body but every cent i make is going towards another old school car. does anyone have any recommendations for a cheap old school car? my dream car has always been a mk2 escort but highly doubt i can afford one of them. if anyone needs or wants any parts off this feel free to message me cheers
  3. slight update , managed to get 5 stock rims for $50 and ill sell the modern rims that came on the car , all the money i get from those are gonna go towards whatever i decide to do with the engine
  4. bit consued really on what to do know took my gearbox to minibits and they said it was perfectly fine , they said may be axles or the shifter so i took those up they were perfectly fine then they said bring the clutch and flywheel set up and they were perfectly fine so not really sure on what to do , best thing to do might be put it back togeather and see if it works ??? not sure what im gonna do as im not really confident to try put the engine back togeather and do all the timing and stuff by myself
  5. wasnt actually sure what the problem was with the driveline , you would turn the car on then pit it into gear(not needing to use clutch) and it would just start being louder and shaking but not going anywhere and not moving
  6. firstly i cant thank guywithaviators and mbtimr enough for coming round today and helping me take out the engine and pull it apart day of up and downs today really got the engine out and pulled apart , but the diff and gearbox seem to be fine so the cause of the problem still hasnt been found , im gonna take the box to minibits tomorow and get him to have a quick look but is there is a problem it seems to be showing the faite of the car. there is alot of rust and if its gonna be an expsneive repair im going to consider parting the car out and hopefully get another rego/wof car with the money i get from parting it (if my mum lets me part it out in the back yard lol)
  7. i think this proves something did grenade itself in the gearbox or diff , should see tomorow when @guywithaviators comes round and we pull the engine and hopefully split the box also i managed to find the wheel key and get the wheels off !

  9. another real good day today working on elmo , finished off the rust fixing on either side now shes all painted , im over the moon for how its come out for my first ever attempt working with class fibre filler and car filler , also have GuywithAviators coming around on monday so we can pull the engine ! also going to try make it to my first old school meet tonight should be fun
  10. super productive day today ! got started on the rust and suprisenly did alot more than i was expecting , i used the rust converter , glass fiber filler and car filler from supercheap for all the little holes and patches but am gonna cut out and weld the side skirts on both sides. havnt got round to getting the wheels off yet but ill start cracking on that and finishing the rust tomorow
  11. if i cant find a socket that welding a nut thing sounds like my next bet , the nuts and sunk into holes in the wheels so cant really grab onto it with anything
  12. good progress today , got the radiator out and took me so long but finally got the carbs out with the help of a spanner cut in half as sugested in the haynes manual , not much left now until i can pull the motor ran across abit of a problem though , dont have the key socket for one of the wheel nuts so idk how im gonna get that off any suggestions? also made a start on some rust repair so ill continue tomorow trying to figure out how to take the intake manifold and exhaust on theres no space for me to get a spanner in there. plus i need a name for the beast , old owner called it elmo not sure if i was keep it or change it up
  13. just got this in the mail , shouldnt be long now and the engine should hopefully be out so i can inspect what the problem is
  14. i dont know what else it could be , axle are fine clutch is fine everything else is good just doesnt drive lol , i got told when the diff goes in one of these it throws shit into the gearbox iswell so yeah , wouldnt really know what it is until i get the engine out and inspect it all
  15. Bad news today... with the help of mtbtimr from the forum we took the fly wheel and clutch off to see if the clutch was the issue but unfortunitly it wasnt.... this means the engine has to come out. Hopefully someone on the forum has a engine crane i could borrow and give me a hand taking the engine out. Also better start looking for a new gearbox and diff, anyone know anywhere i should go ?
