  17. I've been doing a bunch of work on brothers falcon the last couple weeks, its an 87 xf with the 4.1L pushrod anchor, it bent a push rod so ive had the head sent away to get it skimmed and the valves tidied up and what not. I've also bought a couple new lifters for it just to eliminate any chance of it bending more pusrods. Now my question is, how do i check the hydraulic lifters to see if they are good or not? The ute is question: This is what the lifters look like: Cheers guys, I have done a lot of googling for the answer already but everyone seems to say something different
  18. If you did it and your wof guy asks why your motor is now injected as opposed to carbed which is on the cert plate. just point at the itbs and tell him they are carbs and give him a chinky wink, maybe slip him a twenty
  19. its alloy head, but even then i think its going to be a bit of a mish pulling it off, the engine and bay are both huge
  20. ah okay thats good to know SOHC, sweet will give it a try tomorrow Sentra, if not will just take the head off and send it away to get looked at. hopefully the valve and piston haven't had happy times with each other
  21. To bash the valve free do you just take the rocker arm off and tap it with a hammer? Will also try getting lifter out with a magnet. Cheers guys. What would cause the valve to get stuck?
  22. My brothers xf falcon started running pretty rough the other day and I came to the conclusion that it was most likely the head gasket. Got to work getting it ready to take the head of and just as I'm about to remove the head bolts i notice the exhaust side push rod for cylinder 4 is not sitting under its rocker arm, have a look around and find the intake side pushrod is fully bent and not sitting quite in its seat for the rocker arm. Does anyone know what causes this? Is it because of a stuck lifter? Pics to help
