  1. another vote for Milwaukee. I was the first in the workshop to get one and since then every other mechanic has used it and bought one themselves. Theres fuckall they cant undo and batteries last forever. Just makesure you get the model with the circlip style end, not the pin type. Much nicer to use and lower '1' torque setting is way lower than high '2'. makes it way more useable
  2. do you have access to a leak down tester? will probably tell you where all the compressions are disappearing to
  3. Camo door cards cant be certed - Max, 2016 There we go, I've started a rumor. Fuck i hope this takes off
  4. Well the time has come to let this thing go. WOF + REG till march/april Its everything you would expect a 35 year old japanese ute to be, it has its flaws but its also been a super reliable truck that has never let me down. firm on $3000, itll go on FB/trademe next week for a little more (as every punter wants to talk you down to get a deal). thanks
  5. Reverse swing wilwood pedal box? About $800 including cylinders and a fair bit of fucking round and making it all fit under the dash but you only live once right?
  6. Big mirrors are definetly required. I'll probably get some off a truck wrecker, damaged chrome and a bit of rust would be ideal. I think it'll look a bit silly with new nice shiney mirrors on it
  7. I may need some front hubs soon. Most of my wheel studs are pretty fucked, and i dont know if the disk brake conversion will allow me to keep the wheels. Maybe cheaper to replace the hubs rather than shell out for 12x new studs
  8. I finally got the ride height of this badboy sorted last week! Rear leaves were reset 3" by Bellamy and East- Ive used these guys a number of times and always happy with their workmanship, turnaround and cost. Cant recommend them enough! The front springs got were modified for race application by the formidable Mr Milwaukee. I was told taking off a single coil would probably be enough, but after having to drop the lower control arms out to remove the springs, I decided that i didnt really want to do it twice. If it was too low, then I'd add blocks to even it out. A whopping coil AND A HALF! made their way to the scrap bin. I do like to live dangerously, but thankfully it was the perfect amount to match the rear. Big thanks to #AndyGal for pulling his hungover tired self out of bed on Sunday to help me roll the guards. They may look a little rough, but we weren't exactly working with straight guards. IMO they match the rest of the truck perfectly. Next up, sort the steering out. Vent your anger and frustrations here.. //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48611-gomaxgos-b1600-yarn/
  9. keep your turbo and wrap exhaust manifold with copper tubing, run water through that? would also look cool too
  10. i need to know what the other 3 mods will be!? 1. Slam? 2. Wheels maybe? 3.????????
  11. I decided i needed more space for stuff (tools, jacks, strops, ect), so I decided to make a box. Im really bad with taking photos as I go, I tend to just keep doing things and only remember when im nearing completion. Anyway I started by making 3x of these. Theyre shaped to fit under the deck between the cab and rear wheel. 2 were welded together to make the box, with the other destined to become the lid/door. I wanted them to match the deck, but im also on a super tight budget as im supposed to be saving every dollar for a worldwide expedition next year. The solution was to cut up the numerous pallets we have sitting out the back of our workshop, technically im being a responsible kiwi, not a stingy scrooge. With coat of stain, a little black paint and a few study bolts, this was the result. It looks a little average right now, but when mixed with slam, I think it will really look sweet! DISCLAIMER: I may run this over within the following week. If my welds dont blow out, my carpentry surely will! Converse //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/48611-gomaxgos-b1600-yarn/
  12. This week i started applying some of the door signage. I had a friend sign writer make me up some stencils, and another buddy mix up some paint. I ended up brushing it on and will buff it in a week or two to get it thin and patchy in spots. Ill probably get someone to write either "salvage vehicle" or "recovery vehicle" in a semicircle underneath by hand, as my hands are shakier than Michael Fox eating jelly on a plane.
  13. this thing is rad! I wish i had a fireplace just for the excuse to try and make one. Well done!
  14. hmmm there is a jeep wrecker just up the road...
  15. Well they're on the ute now. Leaves will be out in the weekend to be reset, it desperately needs some low! The front wheels poke out a little. Im not really sure what my best option is here, theres no room to move the center for more + offset, and im not keen to run those rubber universal fender extenders. Option #1 - Roll the shit out of them? The bodys already dented a rusty so could definitely pull off a rough guard look Option #2 - Some wide flares of another truck that will suit the later model guards? Option #3 - ??????? Give me your guard thoughts! http://oldschool.co....gos-b1600-yarn/
