  1. Everything turned out superb, the car travelled 978 miles across the course of the Nats weekend, that's 1573 of your metric kilometres, without a hiccup. Some minor leaking from the thermostat housing but nothing to be overly concerned about. The clearances need doing again, I guess they've now accustomed themselves to their new seats so a final adjustment and they ought to be a little quieter. Here's how the car looked at Nats - big thankyou to Alistair for his detailing services, helping the old oxidised paint look fresh again! Super happy with the appearance for now. IMG_7185 by SnoozinRichy, on Flickr So where to next? Grasskhana has convinced me I need a manual conversion, and discussion with tenfive about the conversion hasn't done any favours... so keen infact that one day after Nats I have a 5 speed sorted out.

  3. So, I went on the tweed run yesterday..... I hadn't actually ridden the bike any proper distance since building it (it had sat in my bedroom gathering dust) and only took it on a shakedown the day beforehand. The observant will notice that it has different tyres to the fat franks above. I just couldn't make the Fat Franks roll reliably without rubbing on the chainstays so there was a last minute scramble to find some suitable tyres. Ended up getting some sweet fully slick MTB tyres (2013 Bontrager SR1's). I had kept my moustache since Movember so had been groowing 5 months of ginger facial hair like a boss. So much awesomeness all in one place and the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on. All of these photos have been stolen from the internet as I shunned technology for the day. Now, to concentrate on the Hobbs of Barbican for L'Eroica for 2014......

  7. I tooooooooo have also heard about this and have just wikipedia'd it to confirm its truth. Apparently, if you soak it in gasoline it stops the atoms compressing, further enhancing the exhaust flow property's of the pink fur. So yes. This gasoline trick will be legit. Its a must do for that extra turbo spool.

  10. A little bit of lowkey Sunday action to get the juices flowing today.. From this To this And then on to a little bit of this Plan is to get rear quarters and roof paint striped and send in for media blasting of some description in the next few weeks. Was planning on going the full deal with dip stripping but that shit is a little to rich for me and am worried about loosing primer in spots that I wont be able to get back at. All up I'm fairly happy with the rear quarter, far less rust than I was expecting but there was a hell of alot more bog than I thought I'd be coming across.. As you can see some body has do a right stella job in the past with the wheel arch, and these a few decent dents that were just filled with bog.. But hey, all up it aint to bad.. Anyhow, that's all for today!

  18. Because I'm still buzzing over nats thought it was good time to update my thread. I had to shift out of my house at the beginning of feb for EQC repairs which also meant I had to move the 180 out too. James(85_Z31) was so amazingly kind enough to let me store it at his house in goon for freebies on the condition that I actually came out and worked on it. So pretty much every sunday I go out and work on my car and holy shit this is getting so close to actually running that I can't believe it. So many pics to upload may have to do it in a few posts. Anyway here it goes. Adjustable rear crossmember is about 90% done just need to get a slot milled into my custom made control arm bolts and drill and tap the holes in crossmember for the locking bolts, Intercooler pipes are also finished just need to take them into work sometime and give them the satin black anodised treatment, Oil catch can also mounted just need to run hoses.

  25. Well - long time, no update. I've been a little bit sidetracked with the build up and racing of my Pro7 RX-7, so my Series 1 has been sitting patiently under a cover for the last 2 years. I had a reshuffle in the warehouse over the weekend so I could squeeze in another car, so the cover came off for the first time in a very long time. It's amazing how much dust has managed to get through the cover! Damn black cars. The car has gone backwards a little bit as I've taken a few bits and pieces here and there and used them on the Pro7 car (including the Racetech seats). But on the plus side, the engine has been completed and has been sitting on the floor for about 12 months now, from memory. It's a 13B PP with pretty much all new parts, including housings, rotors, seals, waterpump, clutch, flywheel, etc. The LSD and axles sitting on the pallet are for my MX5, which will be getting some long-overdue attention soon too. So now I've got to figure out which car I want to spend my time and money on. The Pro7 RX-7 is going to need a reasonable amount of dollars thrown at it if I want to compete again next season, and we're saving for a house at the moment too. Both the Pro7 and the Series 1 each need about $10,000 spent on them, so I'm going to have to choose one or the other.

  26. Do this. Pack as much as you can tightly in around the headers/extractors to keep the heat in for that all important extra exhaust flow for that super powerful 1ggte your creating. Should be amazing. Do a walk around video with the car running once you have completed your engine bay transformation and video it.

  29. With all the fabrication completed, it was time for the tear down. I wanted to get rid of all the surface rust that had built up over the last couple of years of grinding and welding in new metal etc. Im about to head off travelling around the world for 6 months, so I needed to get it done before I leave, so its not still sitting there rusting. The plan is to have the interior, engine bay, and under body all prepped, primed, and painted, so I can bolt everything back into the car to put into storage. The exterior will be done when I get back. Ever wondered what all the running gear out of a race car looks like laid out? There ya go.. Haha, not much to it really! Now with the shell completely empty, its off to the sand blasters to get rid of all the surface rust, and all the underseal off the bottom, so we have a nice clean body for panel and paint..

  31. Heres the lateset pic just before she was finished. Unfortunately the front ball joints were fucked and due to the age of the vehicle it wasnt an over the counter solution to fix. So currently the Gloria is still in Wangavegas awaiting the ball joints to be rebuilt and then it will pass the WOF and she will be back home in Auckland.
