oldschool.co.nz Nationals 2013: The 10th Anniversary

It might be hard to believe, but August 2013 will mark the 10th birthday of oldschool.co.nz! Needless to say, this calls for celebration, and what better time to celebrate than our 2013 Nationals!

We’ll be basing ourselves in the Manawatu again this year, using the same camp ground as the 2011 Nationals. This year’s events will take place over 4 days and the organising team have been working hard to make 2013 the best nats yet! So here’s the plan:

  • Friday April 12 – Manfeild Trackday (Feilding) $100
This will be oldschool’s first ever trackday away from Taupo! We need at least 30 entries to make the day viable, so contact me with your expressions of interest ASAP. I can guide you through the basic safety requirements and can send entry forms. If you plan to stay in Feilding on the Thursday beforehand, you’ll need to sort your own accommodation. Email me on m.braid55@gmail.com if you need any info.

  • Friday Night – Convoy to campground 
Even if you are not competing in the trackday, its always fun to watch with the other oldschool members from the stands, and afterwards join in the convoy back to the campground. Friday night is a BYO food so grab something in fielding on your arrival - we’ll provide a BBQ with gas if you want to cook something at the camp.
  • Saturday – oldschool activities day, prizegiving and AGM

Saturday we’ll be doing a bunch of fun stuff based around the campground. We’re not releasing full details just yet, but prepare your poker cards & your egg and spoon. Saturday night we’re having a catered spit roast, prizegiving and our AGM.

  • Sunday – Gymkhana day, Tui Brewery & Quiz night
We’re finalising the details of a Gymkhana at the moment – it could be on grass or on tarmac (let us know what you’d prefer) and we will follow this up with a visit to the Tui Brewery for dinner, followed by quiz night back at the camp. We’ll be staying at the camp again on Sunday night – be ready to clean up and ship out by Monday afternoon.

To sum up, here’s everything you need to know: 
  • Overall Nats Entry fee ($130) -this includes 3 nights accommodation, 2 nights of catered food, Nats merchandise and rubbish collection
  • BYO Breakfast, lunch and Friday night dinner
  • Friday – Trackday $100
  • Saturday – oldschool activities, AGM, Prize giving
  • Sunday – Gymkhana (TBC) $25, Tui Brewery meal, Quiz Night
  • Monday – clean up, sober up and ship out!
