Auckland Burgerfuel Meet – November 2012

A quick history lesson, Back in February 2009 a small group of members from Auckland, met in a small carpark behind Burgerfuel Ellerslie. We talked cars, Ate Burgers and planned the next one. Close to 4 years later, Once a month, every month (bar 2) we have descended on the very same carpark and burgerfuel. Some months we have had as little as 3-4 cars, while others we have overflowed the carpark.

This month’s meet was no exception. The sun stayed out for us while we checked out the  25+ old school cars  (plus numerous modern daily drivers) in attendance.

One of our regular attendees had been absent for some time but made a stunning return after some custom bodywork and a respray. With an engine to match its looks, this car definitely needs more than a glance to appreciate the full package.

Richies 260c simple, clean, slammed. Beautiful. Too bad my photography skills don’t yet capture it as well as he usually does.

It wouldn’t be an Oldschool meet without plenty of cameras clicking away.

Another common site … Tools out for a test fit or fix. Kurts GX81 was trying on a wide 15″ SSR MKI

We are an eclectic bunch here. A tidy Mk1 Escort and an E21 BMW sandwich what i was told was a ”better than factory” Rover. Im not sure if that really says alot, but this car was nice.

Its not all about the classics with us. Georges exige made it out for a run on the night.

This was sitting between the strut towers of a Volvo and raises the question of why? …

The answer , because 300HP!.

James and his turbocharged MX5 are quite fond of the odd sticker. and prehaps a nice sharp pair of scissors.

Something we don’t often see are bikes. Yet this month we were graced by this wee beauty – a something-or-rather triumph bobber.

Keep an eye out on the forums for when our next meet is and I’ll see you there!.

  1. I shall be in attendance for one of these in April, I hope. You best plan one around me/for me.

    • You best plan your trip around the third week of the month. /nah. I will make that months meet suit you. Can’t have the president of the South Island missing out!

  2. Sweet writeup Chris, you really got these events ticking along!

    • Thanks D, I can’t take all the credit. Aucklands members have really stepped it up and become more active. It definitely makes for good meets whether it be the regular ones or one offs.
