Hi Guys, have juust purchased a ctek charger for my yellow top optima...the first optima fuc##ed out, and surprisingly, summit in the states replaced it...(yehah)...the ctek comes with a harness to connect to optima full time, which i have done...before i turn on the unit, i want to know, if it is ok to FLOAT charge the battery with the vehicle electrics still connected??...i assume it is, as they supplied the harness with charger, but am cautious as i have an electronic hyperpak running the dizzy on a 4age in my anglia....

over to you guys...whats your thoughts???

it is indeed, it will just stop things like your alarm, factory clock and or head unit slowly draining the battery

most slightly soft/fair-weather bikers have there bikes on float all winter

You can do a 3 stage charge (boost, absorb, float) with everything connected. You just cannot do something like an 8 stage charge that does weird pulsing and analyzes the battery etc as that would give an incorrect result and some of the electronics may not be too happy with the weird pulsing action.
