That really sucks, I would bet the guy who nicked it had no idea of its worth and thought it was just your average mk1 cortina. Guess it was not alarmed? Why do people not make their cars impossible to steal when they park them out of sight? None of my cars lock properly but there is nothing inside to steal but I take the rotor with me to make it pretty much impossible for anyone to take it.

No matter what you do people can still steal your car NO MATTER WHAT!
eg. take accelerator cable off, coil wires, take plug, take rotor with me...the list goes on, and my escort wagon was still stolen.

terribly sad but probably true,
I doubt many clowns that are into taking cars would of known exactly how rare this one is. Hopefully they shit themselves when they hear its in the herald and leave out on the road somewhere. And not try and dispose of it

This makes me sad. I hate thieves so much and found out that my mates pristine R33 skyline got pinched recently. Standard car, never thrashed and owned for 10 years. Gone. Stupid thing was they removed the alarm last year as it got water in it during the heavy rain and flooding (mounted under seat) and never put it back.

I hope he gets it back be to be honest dont fancy his chances. Problem is, when the heat comes on they will probably destroy it. Years ago there was a Mk 1 RS2000 stolen from Browns Bay. It was a prominent, immaculate well known car. Last seen doing skids in Warkworth then gone. The burnt and cut up shell turned up many months later further north.

if it were heading toward kaikohe only two places it'll end up,
either further up into the bush around broadwood area,
or through the back way to pipiwai northwest of the rei.
both these areas twenty years ago had family car yards on every property,
just a mecca of classic cars all lost to the scrappies as the old koro's (never sold anything)
and the young fellas didn't give a crap and took the cash when they passed.
Sad state of affairs unfortunately i hope it was insured
