Im stumped at where to even begin looking for some new clips that hold the chrome strips onto the sides of my Hunter... we are panel and painting her very soon so they need to come off... a couple of the wee clips are already broken so they need replacing anyway but would love to be able to replace the lot cos i can see at 38 years old they will be brittle and not overly keen at coming off in a re-usable state...

So i thought i will ask you guys on here as theres been some pretty hardcore restorations done by you lot and im sure these wee clips were on your needed lists also! :)

To be clearer these are the strips...

Not long ago I saw a van for a company that specialized in any and every form of clip. I made a point of remembering it for future reference.

Not surprisingly, I have forgotten the name.

What's the lip like on the other side of the strip? If you can't find the right bits from those people above, I slid my MGB strips across some pop-rivets and that has worked great.

People are also known to just glue or double sided tape them back on. A place called hi-q sells various clips and things. http://www.hiq.co.nz/

Get a screw or bolt with a machine thread and a head that you can grind the sides to fit tightly in the rail?

Can you put up a photo of the clips in mind. I have collected many clips over the years (sort of like a car geek version of paper clips) and I might have some of what you want.

Also try basis in renwick or I have had great success with scotts old rubber in oz, which where basis gets a lot of its stuff anyway.

After looking at all those sites, i could still not find the clips i want :( , does anyone know where to get or have any clips that hold the chrome trim that runs under along the sills under the doors on the gto and galant and sigma?

They are a square that slides in the trim with a bigish metal diamond shaped spring clip.
(sorry to try and hijack your thread)
