Hi everyone . I from Ukraine . We have very much low Lada's .
This red Lada 2103 " Жигули " from Kiev , owner's name - Oleg .
Posted Image
Maybe you never see this photo's . Old Lada's is a very popular car for low projects , because they are cheap and easy to repair . Old lowered and clean Lada's with whitewalls called " resto " it's all VW inspiration . I want to show more soviet classic cars , and maybe you are never hear about this automotive corporation .
Let's begin :
VAZ 2101 " Kopeyka " , Kopeyka - it's mean a steel coin , because front lighters looks like a coin .

VAZ 2102 Wagon

Posted Image

VAZ 2103 " Jiguli " or what we call's she in Russia or Ukraine - Troyka - this mean a trinity .

Posted Image

VAZ 2106 This model looks a like 2103 , but have some difference - front grille , and rear lights and chrome moldings .
This VAZ 2106 was stylized old Nissan's .

And video about a yellow VAZ 2106 :

But this vide on a russian language

And GAZ cars . Maybe you never hear about GAZ Motor Company ... But they make a premium cars for soviet red Party . Let's begin .

GAZ 21 " Volga " This was a premium cars in 50-60's

GAZ 22 Wagon

Awesome! Pretty much looks like an oldschool.co.nz cruise, but in Ukraine.

Also well done Eddie for deviating from the red steel/chrome/white wall that your friends all insist on. While it rules, you don't really need it on every car.

Are there many 2103 and 2102's still around in Russia? Are they expensive now or are they considered a "disposable" car?

PS - your english is very very good - I understand everything very well.

No problem . GAZ 24 It's a premium car , what was made for member of Red Party . GAZ 24 called "24" by 24 Congress of the CPSU .
GAZ 24 has a few modification and specification .
This car was used in TAXI , Soviet Road Police "GAI" , KGB , and ambulance wagon . It was premium car , but GAZ 24 was used in any government agencies .
GAZ 24 have a straight 4 cylinder engine with 2400 cc and manual 4 speed gearbox .
And pics :
This is Road Police modification :
Posted Image
KGB modification looks like stock GAZ 24 , but KGB GAZ has a V8 engine from the truck GAZ 52 . They are isn't have a difference in a exterrior .
Ambulance wagon :

And just photos :

I have much more information about old soviet cars ) And start my thread right now .

I'm living in Ukraine . Russia our neighbor . I don't know situation in Russia , but in Ukraine we have very much Lada 2102 and 2103 ,they are cheap . Maybe you isn't know what in USSR -car was a luxury . If you have a money it does not mean that you can buy it , you had to wait in line for several years to buy it . And after purchase owners very carefully used their cars , because parts for cars was a large deficit . Some Soviet cars still original and another cars die . Price for 2103 and 2102 starts from 300 USD and finish near 3000 USD. Bad condition - low price , good condition - higher price . In present day , parts for Lada's are very cheap . You can buy all new parts of front suspension for a 200 USD ( shocks absorbers , plugs , springs and another parts ) . Now lowering and restoration old Ladas it's a prerogative young fellas . We built our cars in garages and do this with pleasure , because another people really like lowered cars .

I dont know what the 32/36 bit means, but yeh keen as!

These have a rip off of a mk1 cortina sports carb on them dont they? Looked into getting one (cortina carb) for the 2107 I had.

If you want replace stock carb , best idea will be buy 2xDellorto DHLA 40 H and make a custom manifold or buy factory manifold for a 2xDellorto , but I have doubt what you find factory Manifold in NZ .

Between this polytech shit and the thing with the vag, I'm turning into such an antisocial mofo.

Please excuse my dumb questions. This is the first car I have worked on.

whats with that horrible exhaust up front on the SR20?

I agree . I show this car as an example to show the SR20 inside Lada .

Old School road trip to Ukraine?

Damn , this is a great idea , but you don't afraid our roads ?
Posted Image

I wanna to proceed my story about old Soviet cars . And first example :
ZAZ 965 " Zaporozhets "
Posted Image
Maybe you say " This car looks a like on VW Beetle or Fiat 500 " - and I say yes . Design of ZAZ 965 was copied from Fiat 500 and was upgraded by Soviet engineers . He has air cooled V4 engine . This car are cheap and easy to repair

ZAZ 966 and ZAZ 968
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

ZAZ 966 and ZAZ 968 have a small difference . Zaz 966 was built to change ZAZ 965 , because ZAZ 965 was already obsolete . 966 and 968 has a air cooled V4 engine with 40hp .
This cars are cheap . Now price starts from 100 $ to 1000 $ . And nice example :
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

And lets talk about USSR automotive factory . In USSR cars built by few automotive factory :
ZIL - It was a factory what built cars for higher party leaders L.Brezhnev has a ZIL 117 and it was a high comfortable car . And ZIL built trucks too .
GAZ - this was a premium and military car builter , and he built truck too .
VAZ - they built lower class cars then GAZ .
AZLK - this automotive factory make a cars to filler up the niche above GAZ and VAZ . I talk about AZLK later
ZAZ - low class cars , they was cheap and easy to repair

I want ask Vintage Grumble - is it hard to find parts for Lada 2103 ?

^ This is just getting better and better, those ZAZ's are so damn sweet, i've never seen them before, such a sweet design. I also like how the gun has white walls, haha.

I've never really had trouble finding Lada parts in NZ, but to be honest i've never really needed many. There used to be a Lada dealer in my town, I got a $3.00 mixture needle from him once, and the only part I have had to replace (on both the 2107 and 2103) was the heater core tap, but I retrofitted plastic ones out of jap cars into them.

haha, nah thats a good (although gravel) road, one of my favourite routes to drive, only room for one car, cliffs off to the side, but the coastline there is beautiful.
