Decided I should do something with this today... (need to fill in my time while waiting for panel beaters)

have stripped down the fuel tap (it was leaking when I last looked at the bike about a year ago) to find every passage absolutely packed with rust flakes...

also one of the rubber gasgets is stuffed... however it looks like a reasonably special tap design (vacuum diaphram and duel outlets) so will try to repair before finding something to replace it with...

wee? it's the biggest bike of about 7 I have :-D

plans are to getting it running spending as little on it as possible - try to get it back on the road, will be tricky as I don't know who the last registered owner was...

and then probably convert to a cafe styled bike... inspired by http://vanguardcycle... ... e-project/

man this is cool. I think when i was looking into re reging a bike they told me it was ok aslong as it had vin plate and i got a letter from the police saying they had no interest in the vin/chassis/engine numbers. i went and got that letter no problems but sold the bike before i took it for vin.

Re-registration of vehicles

Before you can re-register your vehicle you need to provide evidence that:

* your vehicle was once registered - you can use:
old registration papers
registration plates together with a warrant of fitness (WoF) check sheet
registration plates and insurance policy
you are the person legally entitled to register the vehicle.

so give them a reciept from the guy you got it off and a letter from police to say chassis number is not of interest?

edit: but i guess that dont prove it was previous registered. but why is it on their list then? confusing

I bought a bike off a wreckers once, didn't get a receipt, I just took it to vtnz, they sent me down the road to get a police report while they did a wof check, they gave it a new vin and plates etc on the spot.
This was about 10 years ago though

pretty sure you/a mechanic need to complete a form saying the brakes are still in spec drums not oversize/disc's not undersize...

VTNZ were happy with this about 4 years ago, guy there was a super GC and he mucked around with the system as the GL145 I was re regoing was built out of three bikes, plate from one, frame from another, engine from a third. As its pre 1991 iirc it doesn't need a brake declaration.

I reregistered a bike 7 months ago, I brought them a printout of the basic carjam report and the form that vtnz gave me for the police to sign and all was hunky dory.

T250's called a Hustler, Suzuki had the baddest assedness names of all.

I really like this thing Dave, REEAAALLY like it. A lot, heaps. Going to be super cool in cafe racer form.

Definitely prefer the lines of the earlier 'T' 2 strokes to the later GT series bikes too.
