if the piston is near tdc........or near bdc. (obviously you wouldnt want it at precisely tdc or bdc)
smash the ceramic out of a spark plug and weld a grease nipple on it.
then pump some grease in there.

auto trans fuild + acetone is supposed to make boss penetrating oil never tried it though.

if the heads off used the head bolts to bolt some angle or channel down with a hole in the middle with the big nut welded on and wind a bit bolt in to force piston down and free it up if you ar lucky.

Sit bore vertical and make a puddle of on top of the piston with CRC and kerosene - soak 24 hours - try to move - repeat.

Will most probably break the rings and it may have pitted the bore but nothing will turn back the hands of time (barring a Delorean)

This shit is magic always have some mixed up, if you can get it MEK is better than Acetone, doesnt evaporate as quickly. A few cycles of heat and this shit has worked well for me

currently have a mix of diesel and crc soaking in there now.

ive heard the grease trick can crack heads and cylinders so that would be a very very last resort.

Your piston would have to be pretty solid if the head gives out 1st.

if its super stuck

fill with diesel, light on fire

grease would probably work, iv used it to pop various small pistons out (brakes)

top tip for removing a stuck head (but pistons move) stuff a rag down the sparkplug hole and crank over by hand

edit* I have also set up some blocks of wood and a hub puller to get a stuck piston out. Take care in setting this up as if you do it wrong you will break fins

i like the idea of using the head studs to make a pusher, its not likely to damage the studs? and i understand ill need to spread the load over the piston.

also setting the diesel on fire? that seems very simple, how effective is it? do you know how it works?

I presume that lighting the diesel on fire is simply to get some diesel down around the tops of the rings and then adding heat to get the contraction/expansion going on to help it come free. I wouldn't be surprised if that technique came about from someone soaking the bore with diesel (like you're doing now) and it not working. Probably set it alight as a last resort due to it not working haha.

looks like people have had stunning success with fire! leaving it to cool over night seems like a crucial step and like you say, it seems to alow the oil to penetrate.
