The bike shop I work at has been running in Nelson for many many moons now. Current owner Mike cant help but by random old stuff over the years which means that compared to most bike shops he has a lot of old stuff.

I will be leaving it in a few weeks so I might be able to help out if you are after something odd ball. It wont be free as I aint no thief but I can ask mike and get a price and if everyone is happy then all cool. What I want to see is stuff getting used and helping out old bikes or bike transmorgrafications.

So ask here and I''ll check thread every so often and see what I can rummage up. Oh- and because I prefer riding bikes or running instead of working this means I only work at the shop on thursday, friday and saturday.

One random thing we found was a mint, brand new packaged raleigh chopper front mudguard. We threw it on trademe for interest and it sold for $190 !!! Thats not indicative of what mikes wants for bits- more just indicative of how crazy some chopper fans are!

Badly need old freestyle parts!!! Im building a 1989 Bashguard Bully and looking for ACS Boa front brake, Pitbull rear brake and odessey gyro. Any old BMX parts 80's-early 90's considered as also building an 89 Mongoose Cali Pro. Any old 20 inch wheels (3/8 axle) new or used?
Cheers.
Andy.

decent mudguards for a healing cruiser
old school pannier bag for above

Between this polytech shit and the thing with the vag, I'm turning into such an antisocial mofo.

Please excuse my dumb questions. This is the first car I have worked on.

list will be written down and i'll have look today. There are a few old bmx bits i'm sure. I think we do have some brand new oldstock metal mudguards so i'll dig them out. There are bins- maybe 20 or more of old bits. I'll get some photos and post em up. I know that jim in village cycles richmond has a container full of old bikes 40's, 50's etc he has collected over the years. Nz seems to have lost many old 'real' bikes to the scrap yard he reckons. In the 80's 90's when know one wanted them :-(

yeah alot of bikes were ditched in inorganic rubish collections. Growing up in the 70's-80's we had some sweet home grown BMX's. Healing made up a good chunk of them and even produced redlines under licence for a time. Its all worth saving! I would also be interested in an early BMX threaded headset if available.

Cheers.

^ healing 10 speeds use the same headset as all of their bmx's of the same era - mostly Tange gear.

I quit my job there and have started that new job at the classic car resto place. But I still pop into the bike shop now and then and will have a look. No brooks saddles there though. No mudguards in the style you mention either. Sorry bout that. sort of pretty much left not long after starting this thread.

Brooks pricing here aint too bad compared to what I used to sell them in pommy bike shop for...
