hey guys ive got a 1986 Toyota Mark II Gx71, real japanese one, none of this nz new cressida bullshit. Awesome brown interior, factory w57 1g-eu. Bought the car sight unseen. Drove it for two days and decided that it was un-drivable with sooo little power. After making mates with mike from garage slipway it now has a 1jz-ge in it. Although its not turbo it was cheap and has still doubled factory power. when i bought the car it was an absolute dog. I bought it sight unseen, it had abit of rust around it, but the front was all bent, cracked headlight and grill mounts and of course being the jap spec version, parts are next to imposible to find in nz. dents and scratches everywhere. so this is how she looked.

So basically all i could afford to do after putting the engine in was....nothing, so i got about 2 weeks worth of enjoyment out of it after owning it for 6 months then the wof ran out, so off the road for a good month and a half before i got most of the panels repaired and in the process got most of the right side repainted and panel beated aswell and all the rust cut out. So all of a sudden i had a relatively tidy looking old gx71 in old man condition and nice and sleeper due to the super restrictive factory exhaust. And she got a warrent (slightly dodgy little backyard place hahaha).

So next up was the modifications that i ahd been dreaming of for like 8 months. So lowering springs to start (ae92 king spring super lows in the front and ford sierra wagon springs in the rear with a coil cut off to balance it out) and off with the hubcaps, add a rediculous big front lip, and then later a boso pipe (not traditional style but the whole idea with this car was to do something different to the mainstream idiots my age with silvias and r32 skylines). It desperatly needed the exhaust done anyway as it didnt have any noise at all so now it is basically a straight through.

Now came the wheels, i had hunted and hunted for old school 'real' wheels. despite being told it didnt matter and i should buy some imitations i held out untill i managed to score a pair of 15x7 +13 ssr reverse meshs, then came the roof racks to build a wooden roof basket thing (stance ish) but for now they stay just roof racks. went and did a day on the hampton skid pan in it aswell. Loved it! but hated the open diff, so next on the list is an f series rear subframe so i can put a big lsd in it or just lock it. But pics pics.

Oh, and we set the bonnet on fire, like i said, this thing is here to be different, and basically rusting panels is waaaay to common now, so setting fire is how it works, its rough at the moment but we are guna take a blow tourch to it and even it all out, will end up looking awesome as and the colour will make a brilliant contrast to the gold paint.

So the latest additions (ive made a habbit of switching everything up every 2 weeks). So i have borrowed a pair of watanabes for the rear, 15x7 +7, so it has evened the height out alot, and i also got a wooden nardi steering wheel for it and a big 330mm chrystal dildo gear knob for it.

So thats where we are at for now. The next update should hopefully be a good one, im saving for a set of ae86 bc gold coilovers to dump the shit out of it and set up a good stance. I also want to do the whole f series rear subframe conversion and get a locked diff into it. And last but not least ive got a pair of fender mirrors sitting round that i have been wanting to put on for ages but havent got around to it. Oh and i want to build my wooden roof basket set up. So yea.

ok update update update, first off, mx73 BC gold coilovers that are currently stuck on the wharf due to customs, second, half way through making the wooden slats for my roof racks, um what else, few stickers here and there. Oh and ended up paint stripping the bonnet, got mostof the paint off, looks a shit load better than the stupid burnt shit. Looks pretty average in the photos but looks pretty cool in real life, going to start with some chemicals to get a darker colour on it for more of a contrast. Took it out to Meremere to opening night of drag wars, went really well, my mate was running and it was good to get it out for a cruise so i was happy with, some midnight manji's in industrial manurewa was fun too. Then the next day a clutch dump led to a big bang, have either smashed an axel or the inside of my diff has been blended. So now looking for an f series rear end to swap it over so i can stop breaking stuff. oh and it doesnt have the front lip on it as it had to come off to tow the bitch home.

Photo dump.

Oh yeah quick shop i did, would love to find some 01's in a decent size/offset but thinking stealies for max low/skids for the mean time and then real wheels when i can find them. Oh and subframe is being sorted, just need to organise and get it up to auckland, then can have this bitch on the road again.

so yeah car still doesnt go, guy i had organised to get the subframe off has dropped off the face of the planet. currently attempting to get a t series axle so i can at least getting it driving again while trying to find a cressida to tear parts from. On an unrelated note i got a set of steels widened so i can at least have something to slam it on once the coilovers go in. Going to take the front struts out and take them to ttt and have them welded to the coilovers so it can be slammed asap aswell. dish on the steels have started rusting a little bit which actually looks kinda rude so will leave them be for a bit till i decide what colour i want to paint them.

tl;dr? car doesnt go, got new wheels. Oh and by my calculations, 14x9jj -15. YEEEAAAAHHHHH

Said wheels:

wheels are primed and sanded and ready to go. Went and bought some really expensive paint and will need to gloss them after but its worth it because i want a decent job on them. Going to need to paint the whole car afterwards cause its going to look so shit by comparison. It all runs now and i ended up buying a modified f series subframe so it is now completely camber adjustable. Has a fresh warrent on it aswell. Is currently on an open diff but have a locked one that needs re locking but then it will go in. Has a disgusting white bonnet on it but it isnt as rusty and was warrantable so meh i will paint it later. For the mean time it is sitting on axle stands waiting for the coilovers to be finished as they are being welded at the moment and then they can go in and it can be slammed finally. I also have brand new tyres waiting for the stealies. Ended up buying 185/55/14's for them so the stretch is going to be fairly rediculous but i got the tyres so cheap im not worried. (Linglongs at 55 bucks each brand new) Dont really know what else you will want to know, sure there is something ive done wrong so yeah go hard cause i actually feel like im getting somewhere with this car. Picture just because im in love with this colour.

Man i havent touched this is ages. Ok so what happened, finally got it going again with the f series rear end, it has the bc's in it but as with everyone else the front is no where near low enough. Have just got the wheels back from Precision Wheels who were fitting them. Was too much stretch to fit normally so am running inner tubes in them. Haven't got any photos of the car but you arent missing much, it is wound down a little bit more in the rear and is one colour again for the first time in what feels like forever. plan for next week is to measure how much lower the front needs to be (im thinking about 40-50mm) and then get the shorter inserts ordered from redline. But yeah will post photos with the steels on soon but for now here is some wheel porn

So tried the wheels on for the first time, Shit pokes decently so i cambered the front out as much as i could and with a little guard play i should be able to get them under enough. As for the rears with the modified rear sub frame i should be able to get a heap of camber into it and pull the guards enough to fit them under. Or worse case get some flares for the rears and sit it right down on its arse. Anyway as she sits now, with the rear wound down a bit just for the fun of it.

Posted Image

Ive got the rear piece of trim for it aswell.

But yeah some picks with the stealies, I reacon a little roof spoiler would look really awesome and im thinking about getting a little black boot lip spoiler from a cressida.
