ok so i gave her a quick respray, its pretty average, would definately not call it mint, especially the boot with its nasty sanding marks. either way, its better than what the paint was before hand, 1, because its got clear on it this time, 2, because old paint had few primer patches, different coloured bonnet (aussie one) and a few dents and scrapes needed fixing.

Posted Image

was ok for a quick job over the long weekend borrowing someones garage, all up it cost me 200 for all the primer, paint, clear, sanding paper etc so i think it was well worth it. should come up a bit better with a cut/polish

What was left

car on axle stands while dropping box down

brothers old car which i have inherited, need to replace engine though and drop it down low again. daily stz/escort i have is too shit. bought and engine for it, amg 4g63 ~170hp. should go good.

Painted the daily and got some new rims:

The amg 4g63 never happend, ended up getting an engine which developed a big end knock pretty much instantly  so had to rebuild that with a replacement crank/conrod and bearings/rings etc.

Lowered it a bit in the front, im quite happy with the result, it has the mean nose down stance which my old cortina had(but lower). Also chucked the 1 piece driveshaft in, might change it back to the 2 piece as it does bang on the floor sometimes, but ill see how it goes.

the crossmember is 75-80mm from the ground, which will always be in the back of my mind, for if i ever get pulled up. it doesnt look outrageously low though and the rear is still 2cm tyre to guard so i dont reckon ill get any beef.

Been a long time

Have been gathering a few parts slowly-

EFI manifold
megasquirt (MS1 v2.2)
holley blue fuel pump
vl fuel pump
surge tank
vr4 intercooler

Plan is to get the car running n/a efi first then add the supercharger into the mix. First thing is i need to run new fuel lines down the car which i will be doing once ive decided on the exact fueling setup.

Took for a wof today, after not having one for over a year.

Failed on some bullshit, brake lights apparently werent working which they were. Also lug nuts arent screwed onto enough thread apparently, so i just chucked the trident noodles on.

Recheck tomorrow, then i can start piecing together all my bits.

Its been a while but its now running with EFI manifold and megasquirt :D This is all after numerous teething problems such as the ecu going up in smoke after frying the injector driver due to the low impedence vr4 injectors, have remedied that issue now with a injector resistor pack off a honda. Its just NA for now to keep thing simple as im moving house soon and want to be able to drive it there.

Pics will follow when I have a bit of time to move it out of the garage into some proper light. Also need to take it for a road tune, pretty interested to see how well the wideband works.

Here is my annual update:

Decided that before I moved out my last flat that I would give her the once over while I still had a double garage to work in.

Fixed the majority of the rust and sealed the usual areas with a coat of por15.
Dug out a shit load of suspect looking bog jobs/fixed surface rust beneath and redone.
Pulled off the rest of my fibreglassed on front lip (got munted putting car into a trailer once, putting mk5 sport one on instead)
Gave her a fresh lick of paint.
Turned to shit so sanded/flattened said fresh lick of paint off with 400 to make it look marginally better.
Moral of the story - Dont use paint which has been sitting on the shelf for 5 years as it WILL ruin all your hard prep work.

Pieced together a shiney intake pipe with old bits of piping

Posted Image

Finally got my act together to try get her tuned right with the megasquirt
-Replaced original fuel reg with a aftermarket adjustable one with guage
-Set fuel pressure lower than it probably was with old fuel reg (running vr4 450cc injectors which are a tad too large while im still NA so set fuel pressure @ 32psi so I could get a decent injector PW)
-Changed injector timing to 4 pulses/alternating rather than what was working best before 2 pulses/simulatenous (think i still might try 2 pulses/alternating and raising fuel pressure)
-Purchased TunerStudio to make use of their useful built in calculators as a good starting point (VE table and target afr)
-After much screwing around and recalibration of the wideband o2 sensor, took her for a drive while running VE analyse live and it seemed to do an awesome job and resulted in a pretty decent afr throughout the range.

Things to do:
Hook electric fan up to MS
Rewire loom through different hole in firewall (doh should have planned this one better)
Tidy up interior (my door cards are looking very neglected and the cat ripped up what was left of my carpet)
Get wof and put lower springs back in the front
Repaint or perhaps vinyl wrap
Drive it over summer like a boss
