For Questions Regarding WOF's or CERT's these following links may be usefull to you :

This document has been prepared by the LTSA for the use of vehicle inspectors and inspecting organisations to aid in achieving correct and consistent standards of in service inspection and certification (WoF & CoF) http://www.ltsa.govt...manual/#general

Basicaly this means that your car must comply with everything listed on this page to get a WOF, if this page says you need a LVV certification, try this link for more information:

http://www.lvvta.org.nz/newindex3.html

Hope this helps,
Si

My 1971 mini has the black plates DM----. Is it possible to take an old plate and register it to a new car?

No, you have to get it made as a personalised plate and then its in the modern colours. Legally, all old plates are supposed to be returned when removed from a vehicle.

Callum

That's true but no-one seems to care about that... I have a stack of black plates at home. And if you still have the original, once you've got the new plates, there's nothing to stop you putting the black ones on, and no legal way of telling them apart... right?

Whats the story on cars modifed before the cert regulations were bought in 1991 (I think it was 91)?

Cause the simca had the motor it has now put in the year prior to the cert regs, but I have no way of proving this currently - I'm trying to get proof from the garage that did it via the old owner.

If I can't, am I going to run into problems?

Without a declaration cert, you have to recert the whole car to todays standards. I know the NZHRA has records of what cars declaration certs were issued to but I don't know how complete or easy to access the information is. I would give them a try anyway.

Callum

could always pretend you didnt know it was anything then standard... its not like its a massive upgrade is it?

BTW, i thought you only needed a cert if some shit had to get fabricated and if the engine power was X% more :S

Mines on hold..........

It's only got a 4K in it, so it wouldn't be a massive increase no, and it's got a few off the original Simca bits so if I shined it up and made look non toyota ish then a WOF guy might not notice, but I'd prefer to have the decleration certs.

It's really well done anyways, has been like it for 15 or so years so I doubt I'd have a problem.

Just makes life easier lol.
