  1. Your driving looks so much more chill now, apart from the end, where you went completely Ueo mad. Awesome stuff!
  2. Salutations, So I'm thinking of converting my R32 to Macpherson strut because of reasons, but how about I check it's okay before cutting the towers up ? Main concern is about cutting new mounting points for the struts, because as far as I'm aware cutting the strut tower is no bueno. Thoughts ? Few people have done it, most notably Driftworks, but nobody has done it to a street car. Not here, anyway: http://www.driftworks.com/blog/2010/06/the-driftworks-r32-suspension-conversion-explained/ That's a good photo of roughly where the new mounting points go. So, that's my main concern. The conversion is made up of S13 coilovers, knuckles, hubs, LCA, tie rods and tension rods. I'm told they all bolt straight up, and that the only thing to do is extend the swaybar mount. While I imagine that part of the job is okay, might as well list it and find out for sure. Cheers in advance.
  3. Already have Hardrace items front and rear, which they themselves have said WILL pass certification. I've kept all the paperwork in case they don't. Once I've done the rear guards I'l get an alignment but have them dial in as much front camber as possible to see if they stop thumping the strut towers. All good and well if that works, but because of the way the camber laws work in relation to Nissan's genius idea of no factory adjustment, I'm only good for about one degree, which is what it's at now, and is why it's fouling. Talked to the cert man about the situation. Took him a minute to understand the concept of double wishbone suspension ... Anyway, my only option is to buy aftermarket lower A-arms. Modifying the factory items is no bueno. Does anyone even make them? So I guess I'm in the market for an S13 front cut, if you's have got one going ...
  4. Thanks guys ! So I guess I should start updating this when I do something with it instead of once every six months ... Good news ! I finally got it off the ground and got another wheel on it ! It moves again !! Bad news . The SSR has copped a hit during the tyres shenanigans . Oh, any double wishbone friends out there have a solution to maxing them out ? I don't fancy cutting the strut towers, so I'm thinking about going to an shop and having the lower arm shortened. Anyone done this, or have a much easier solution ? (inb4 "raise the car")
  5. I know you're talking about the flat front left, but did you consider how skid-tacular you just sounded ?
  6. Big update to bump this thread from the bottom of the second page! So after getting an actual reason out of the cert mayne it became obvious pretty early on that the Teins wouldn't cut it. So after a lucky find I sold the Teins and bought these: Silk Road RM/A8's, two way adjustable, with 8kg/10kg springs. But as you can see it the photo the tophats let go because for whatever reason there wasn't anything holding them on ... I have no idea why. A little later on, it became obvious that this wasn't going to be a quick process so I set about buying another pair of 7J's so I had a set and they'd write "15x7J F&R" on the cert plate. However, Y!JP can have a certain effect on a man... FRP R32 GT-R front lip. It was cheap and I couldn't help myself. I went a bit mad at this point and bought a Hakosuka wing from our very own Parts For Sale, and a C10 Skyline badge. Anyway, I did buy another pair of 7J's, a pair of zero offset SSR Formula Mesh. Rad. After a couple of weeks I got a letter saying they were "infested with live spiders" and were held at customs. Un-rad. And I hate spiders. Anyway, easy fix, and got them within the same week: Got some cheap Bridgestones, 195/50R15's again. Why cheap? Because the guy couldn't get the jack under my car. Yeeeeeeeeee... And that brings it about where it's at now. Wheels on the car, car on the floor, A-arms fouling against the strut towers. Oh, not quite. The front left tyre decided it wasn't a tyre any more, and this is where it sits until I find enough planks to drive it on to get the jack under it ... Yeah...
  7. "Man, I dailied it around 50mm higher and destroyed the whole underside of the car." It suddenly seems like I might be overdoing it. Are your A-arms still playing ball at MOER LAOW hieght ?
  8. Yeah, City Mechanical seems to be the go. I've been a few times and they've been good to me. I can confirm they're low-car friendly, but I've seen one or two of Dunedins most famous oldschool cars there when I've been, so I dare say they can handle old cars too.
  9. Blue sandwiched between chrome looks uhmazing in the last pic. Like...velvet and silver, or some luxurious shit. Props.
  10. That's a pretty sharp incentive to find you some 10kg springs ! What rates / lengths do you have sitting around for swapsies ?
  11. Tyres all sussed, took the keeper springs off the front and put them on the rear, lowered the car, took photos. It always manages to look tall in photos, and the sidewalls do too. Oh well.
  12. Big yes for this monthly, next one will be sweet if all the in-progress cars break cover then !
  13. Still no car, so I'm on here instead. Super keen for this on the regs ! Have a good one, guys.
  14. Hey internet, it's been a while. Got this pair of SSR Formula Mesh, 15x7JJ +13, and 195/50 Bridgestone MY01. Good thing the coilovers are still up high, or I'd shred the tyres! Once I eliminate the silly lip on the inside of the guard and lower it more they'll tuck in nicely. Aside from these, all my money has gone / going to certification, warrant etc. Only other thing I bought is a pair of 185/55's for the front, which are still my old Bridgestone meshies. Change of plans, too. After seeing how these sit, I'll aim for a low offest pair of SSR mesh in 15x6.5, and transfer the 185's to them. That should sit plenty good.
