I enjoyed the wee run Sparkle organised for us a month or so ago out to the Waterford so much, that I've taken it upon myself to take notice of the idea a few of you jokers had to cruise out to the Pongaroa Hotel/Pub in the bustling metropolis that is, Pongaroa. What a town, what a town Slogan. Pongaroa.The way to go. Website of the Hotel. http://www.pongaroahotel.co.nz/ This will be Sunday the 9th of November - there seems to be heaps happening the 15th/16th that can't be missed so one of these two this should probably catch most people! I reckon we should scoot out there for a spot of Lunch, so perhaps look at leaving the meeting point in Ashhurst at around 11am to be at the Pongaroa Hotel around 1pm for a Pint and a wee munch. At this stage I reckon we should head up over Saddle Rd past/through the Windfarm (with perhaps a quick stop at the top for photo op/feed the baby winds), then down through whatever back roads we can muster, ending up at the Pongaroa Pub. At this stage nothing's locked in, this is just an expression of interest type thread, which will be updated as we go. I have a feeling the road between Pahiatua/Makuri and Pongaroa is still quite dodgy though, earthquake damage ? A few years back there was servicing there for Wairarapa Rally and these drunken old hags came out of the pub and started hassling the rally jokers. It was only just lunchtime too.
